Looking at the screenshots i take it this was actually shot in 1.85:1 ratio?

yes, the movie was shot 1.85:1 -- you can see me and wifey in the "Peepli Live Contest Winners" bonus feature on the DVD -- I'd posed this question to Kiran Rao and she'd confirmed the 1.85 ratio.

The press launch is on 24th Dec in Mumbai.

I do not have the BD yet -- not yet available in India. Hope to get it by 24th. Question.

Yes, the BD and DVD are now available. The Press Launch is at 2PM Indian Standard Time, 23-Dec-2011.
