Subtitles: <-- 2.35:1 Screen Friendly (Positioned at the bottom of the picture area)
1/2 English
2/2 Arabic
Special Features:
NONE

Special Mention:
NO separate 'Song Menu' to allow direct selection of song. <-- This should be a no brainer for all Bollywood films.

Authoring issues:
1. Pop-up Menus don't close on their own and stay up forever, until either you make a selection or use the button on the remote to close the menu. The 'pop-up' menu should automatically close after a specified time (10-15 seconds) of inactivity.
2. There is no chapter/title information displayed when played on a PS3. Even on the Oppo BDP-83 player, the title number of the title playing does not display. This seems to be a problem with all BDs authored by Digital Entertainment.
3. The left/right/enter keys on the PS3 'remote' do not function as rewind/forward/pause buttons, like they do with all other BDs/DVDs. This too is a problem with all BDs authored by Digital Entertainment.
4. The menus are devoid of any design, let alone imagination. The most amateurish menus on any Indian blu-ray so far.

Review:
Video: Extreme DNR, rendering the picture totally waxy and lifeless. The colors are atrocious at times, specially considering this is a new movie. In all fairness the 'digital' print that I viewed in the theatrical release suffered from the similiar issues, except that the picture definately had more detail in the theater and it seems more DNR has been applied for the blu-ray.
Audio: The volume level is too loud. This is now consistently a problem with Digital Entertainment authored blu-rays. Very ill defined and boomy bass.

My ratings:
Movie: 3.8 out of 5.0
Video: 3.25 out of 5.0
Audio: 4.0 out of 5.0
Extras: 0 out of 5.0
Misc.: 3.0 out of 5.0
Overall: 3.15 out of 5.0

Speakers: 5.1

BD Player:
Oppo BDP-83 (Hardware Modified 'Region Free' with 'BDP83-50-0424' firmware)

Is it the same transfer as BHV? If not then your specialised view on PQ/AQ is awaited. Thanks.

If it's a Disney release, it should be the same waxy waxy crappy crappy version. Not sure why would any director intend for a crappy waxy look which looks worse than VHS.

If you ask me, this has nothing to do what the director wants. I am sure someone like Prakash Jha does not even no the technicalities involved in a digital transfer. Bottom line is, the atrocious picture quality was quite simply a horrible job by the people involved in either doing the digital master and or the DP.

PS: You are probably right, that the Disney BD is probably identical to the UTV version and if I am not mistaken then both are authored by Digital Entertainment.

good review but iam not with you on audio..according to me it is one of the best sound mix-es and was a reference quality mix.......the bass was a little boomy at times and track was loud but this as someone earlier said ads to the intensity of the film.............anyways audio is 4.75/5 for me......!!

I think both the UTV and Disney version are authored by 'Digital Entertainment' and thus are probably identical. I have not seen the UTV version so I cannot confirm, but based on comments in the forums, it seems they are the same.
