It is very sad, that 'YRF Home Entertainment' continues to insult their customers by continuing with this abhorrent practise. No scrolling advertisements during songs.
No advertisements, forced or otherwise, before or during the movie.
No locking of any buttons during menus. Thereby allowing the viewer to skip to the next menu screen.
<-- All Bollywood Video companies, please take note.Separate 'Song Menu' to allow direct selection of song.
<-- This should be a no brainer for all Bollywood films.Special Features presented on a seperate DVD to allow more space on the BD for the main feature.
<-- All Bollywood Video companies, please take note. The movie starts automatically after the standard, copyright warning messages and the Yash Raj logo video.
Authoring issues:1.
During the last 10 - 15 minutes of the movie, the sub-titles appear only for very short periods, not allowing enough time to even read what is written. The entire experience of the movie is spoilt for those who do not understand Hindi and who rely on the sub-titles to follow what is being said.2. Pop-up Menus don't close on their own and stay up forever, until you use the button on the remote to close the menu. The 'pop-up' menu should automatically close after a specified time (10-15 seconds) of inactivity.
3. The pop-up menu does not close even after having made a selection. This is a major irritant.
4. No option to 'Play All' songs. This is not really a screw up, but nevertheless it is something that ought to be an option on all Indian Blu-rays.
Review:Recommended for the very good audio/video quality and special features, but with reservations due to the issue of logo 'watermarks' during songs if sub-titles are turned on. There is also the issue of sub-titles appearing for very short periods during the last 10 - 15 minutes of the movie, making it impossible to follow what is being said for those who cannot understand Hindi and rely on the sub-titles.
PS: 'YRF - Home Entertainment' has listened to our demands to stop putting logo 'watermarks' on their blu-rays, but unfortunately they have only gone half way and the 'Yash Raj' logo still appears for 3-4 seconds during songs if/when the sub-titles are on. I hope 'YRF - Home Entertainment' will realize sooner than later, that although this is not a problem for those who do not need sub-titles, for the rest it is still totally unacceptable. Moreover, that
they are now the only video company still continuing with this abhorrent practise, now that even T-Series has done the right thing and is no longer putting logo 'watermarks' on their BDs. Hopefully 'YRF - Home Entertainment' will look into this and immediately put a stop to any such implementation, in the future.
My ratings:Movie: 3.50 out of 5.0
Video: 4.50 out of 5.0
Audio: 4.25 out of 5.0
Extras: 3.25 out of 5.0 (Special features in HD would have increased this score)
Overall: 4.0 out of 5.0 (Poor packaging and sub-title issues, keep the score from being higher)
The overall score has been further reduced, due to logo 'watermarks' appearing during songs, if sub-titles are turned on. Screenshots courtesy Raul07 & DDREquipment used for testing:Projector: Panasonic PT-AE2000U
