THE FIRST Blu-ray title in Telugu is "KING". This Blu-ray will be available for sale online and in Virginia stores (Rainas Indian market, Chantilly, VA) TODAY, the 13th, October, 2009. So, October, 13th is the release date of first Blu-ray "King". Other cities will have it available for sale from tommorrow. Technically, I am hoping that it will be the best Indian Blu-ray after Sivaji Blu-ray.

Telugu Film: KING
Hero: Nagarjuna
Heroine(s): Trisha & Mamata Mohandas
Other Stars: Srihari, Deepak, Geetha, Brahmanandam, Sunil, MS Narayana, Krishna Bhagawan, Jayaparakash Reddy, Ajay, Surya, Chandra Mohan, Sayaji Shinde, Venu Madhav, Master Bharath
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Screenplay - direction: Seenu Vytla (Director of "Dhee" and "Ready")
Producer: D Sivaprasad Reddy
Banner: Kamakshi Kala Movies

KING Blu-ray is combinedly produced by Uni Ads Private Ltd. & Bhavani DVD, inc.

The Blu-ray film in Telugu ‘KING’ was authored by Prasad EFX in its state-of-the art Blu-Ray compression and authoring facility in Chennai. Prasad EFX scanned the original picture negatives at 1920x1080 (High Definition) resolution using a very high end 4K resolution scanner for best results and performed the color correction using the latest color grading systems. The first Blu-ray made with 4K resolution scanner in Prasad EFX is KING title. This has ensured excellent color management throughout the film, fine details and very good clarity, thus enhancing the viewers experience to a level previously not available in Indian Films. Having worked on major Indian feature film projects including Sivaji, Kuruvi, Billa, Pokkiri and Villu, Prasad EFX’s expertise in Blu-Ray has been appreciated by the industry at large. Because of new 4K resolution scanner used for King title, it will show significant difference in every aspect compared to other films authored by Prasad EFX.

Technical Details of Dual Layer Blu-ray of King:
Pristine High Definition 24p Video - 1920x1080p-AVC H.264
Uncompressed LPCM \24 bit, Dolby Digital 5.1\16 bit Audio
On screen Popup & More interactive Menus
English Subtitle and TeluguAudio Stream

Thanks for posting. The formatting on the link was weird. It seems like there's some grain on these shots. Hopefully that means this transfer wasn't DNRed to death. I'm curious to see this film just for the bloody spearhead in that last shot! Waiting for Mhafner and Stephen's thoughts...

What exactly was the chain of authoring here? I'm not entirely sure. Did the film go through a DI, back to film, and then the BR was made from that film? Was it graded optically, then scanned at 4K for the BR? Was the BR made from a DI?

Looks ok. I would have to see it in motion to say more. 4K scanner or not, it does not look stellar, but how much of this is just the look of the source I can't say.

The source looks bad - bad colour correction is the result of this. Too much contrast levels.
