If CRAPWARIYA is rated 95/100, this deserves 150/100 :D

I caught it on starz hd man I am in :shock: that how good it can get!!! 8) I have already ordered my copy.My impression of Hong Kong films is that they are shot beautifully but story is dumb! The filming I loved before was THE HERO, and I do not think it is on BR yet?

Sanjay, munda, UL, Muz,Stephen go get ur self a copy of COGF!

I cant wait for CTHD if it looks as good as this. Go CT!!!!

I put it in my queue at blockbuster.com, will watch it when i get it!

Most review sites are giving this a good rating for pq. I'm getting it from NetFlix. I still haven't managed to sit through Saawariya good pq or not - it's not holding my interest at all.

I bet, you will sit through COGF, though. It is not on par with CTHD9 story wise) but might be better cinematic experience though. Cho Yan Fat in both, Gong li, replaces Michelle Yeoh

Okay, we've heard back from Paramount. They tell me officially that the artwork posted on the 1080b website is fake (it looks like someone took the DVD covers and mocked up Blu-ray versions in Photoshop), which we already suspected. They also tell me that they currently have no information regarding the status of these titles being released on Blu-ray... which is something of a non-denial denial. So... where does that leave us?

After hearing back from some of our sources around the industry this afternoon, and now Paramount, what I think is this: It's possible, but not yet officially decided, that we could see these titles on Blu-ray this year. There are discussions, there's some work being done, but the trigger hasn't actually been pulled yet and official announcements have obviously not yet been made. Interestingly, a number of retailers have now e-mailed me to say they've heard the titles may be coming this year. So while there isn't fire yet, there's definitely smoke. If I had to lay odds, I think there's about a 70/30 chance of both the Godfather films and Indy IV coming to Blu-ray later this year, but the rest of the Indy films are still just 50/50. Again, cross your fingers, be patient and hopefully we'll hear more officially one way or the other soon. We will, of course, keep you updated.

:rofl: They "suspected" that! The Spanish sites themselves said those were mock-ups. The news originated from Paramount Europe not USA, sources inside the offices saying those dates. Obviously they've probably been slapped around now for speaking before the any official announcements have been made :lol: HD sources do exist for all Indy films as they've been broadcasting on HD channels in UK at least (I'm sure they have in other places too).

Warner Bros. Our good friends over at The Digital Bits were able to squeeze Warner for a little more information about some of the catalog titles expected to be released on Blu-ray this year. The current goal is to release a Blu-ray version of any catalog film day-and-date with a Special Edition DVD release. This will take some time to implement, but they hope to get that policy up-and-running by the end of the summer.

Without further delay, here is the updated list of titles announced by Warner for Blu-ray release.

08Q1

* Bonnie and Clyde: Ultimate Collector's Edition

08Q2

* Dirty Harry: Ultimate Collector's Edition (Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, Dead Pool, and Clint Eastwood: Out of the Shadows)

08Q3

* An American in Paris
* Batman Anthology
* Batman Begins
* Gigi
* How the West was Won
* The Dark Knight

08Q4

* A Christmas Story: Ultimate Collector's Edition
* Otis: Uncut

2008

* The Adventures of Robin Hood
* Casablanca
* Clash of the Titans
* Excalibur
* Forbidden Planet
* Heat
* Grand Prix
* The Matrix Trilogy
* Mutiny on the Bounty
* V for Vendetta

2009

* Ben-Hur
* Gone With the Wind
* North by Northwest
* The Wizard of Oz
* Woodstock

As you can see, those missing Warner titles which have been released on HD DVD but not Blu-ray are still coming - including 'The Matrix' trilogy.

Warner is discovering that many catalog titles don't have transfers which are good enough for Blu-ray release, including 'Clash of the Titans' (which has been delayed for restoration) and 'Heat' (which Michael Mann has just agreed to supervising a new 1080p transfer). Rest assured, Warner will continue to scrutinize every release to ensure it looks and sounds as good as possible before being released to the public.

Speaking of audio, Warner has heard your cries, and they will start releasing all high definition titles with lossless audio. Obviously, the switch to Blu-ray exclusivity makes this move easier, as the format has much more storage and bandwidth.

Additionally, any Warner catalog title you hear that is receiving 4k restoration will get a Blu-ray release. Warner spent years mastering their catalog at 1080i, and they are now having to do new masters in order to get a perfect transfer. Some catalog titles will receive 4k restoration (four times the size of 1080p), and any title you hear receiving this treatment will get a Blu-ray release

Remember, these are just a taste of what's coming from Warner this year, and there is still a bunch of titles planned for release that they are holding under their jacket, not to mention all the new release titles. But even with the list we have today, its shaping up to be a great year for Blu-ray fans.

Now that we've already got one particular trilogy on our BD radar, it's only fitting that yet another blockbuster trio hit the screen. According to PSU, Peter Jackson has stated outrightly that he is "working on a Blu-ray version of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy with Warner Bros. at the moment," and although he confessed that a release date wasn't available, we are told not to expect it anytime this year. Reportedly, the comments were divulged while chatting about the forthcoming Hobbit, and while we're undoubtedly stoked to hear the news, we can't help but feel somewhat crushed that Profile 4.0 may very well be out and about before this collection ever lands. Paramount will release "Patriot Games" and "Sum of all Fears" on Blu-ray this July 29th.

The movies looks to be released separately and so far only two of the Jack Ryan films have been announced.

Patriot Games will have a Theatrical Trailer, a featurette and DTS 5.1 sound. No extras have been announced for "Sum of all Fears."

We will return when details arrive on the last two films in the series. "Hunt for Red October" and "Clear and Present Danger."

Synopsis:

Patriot Games:
Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in this explosive thriller based on Tom Clancy's international best-seller. His days as an intelligence agent behind him, former CIA analyst Jack Ryan has traveled to London to vacation with his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch, All I Want For Christmas). Meeting his family outside of Buckingham Palace, Ryan is caught in the middle of a terrorist attack on Lord Holmes (James Fox, The Russian House), a member of the Royal Family. Ryan helps to thwart Holmes' assailants and becomes a local hero. But Ryan's courageous act marks him as a target in the sights of the terrorist (Sean Bean, Stormy Monday) whose brother he killed. Now Ryan must return to action for the most vital assignment of his life: to save his family. Costarring James Earl Jones (The Hunt For Red October).

Sum of all Fears:
Ben Affleck is ready for action, commanding the role of CIA agent Jack Ryan in this thrilling adventure based on the Tom Clancy bestseller. America's Cold War fears are rekindled after the President of Russia dies and is succeeded by a man with a cryptic past. But East-West tensions erupt when the CIA suspects that renegade Russian scientists are developing more nuclear weapons. Mobilized into action by CIA Director William Cabot (Morgan Freeman), Jack Ryan (Affleck) follows a danger-ridden trail to a shocking conclusion: terrorists plan to provoke a war between the U.S. and Russia - by detonating a nuclear bomb at a championship football game! Costarring James Cromwell and Liev Schreiber, The Sum of All Fears adds up to the year's most explosive entertainment.

Please Note - More details:
Be sure to check out the full details under related release

** I am so disgusted with Harrison Ford after Indy 4, I'll stay with RED OCTOBER only.

Disney adds first digital copy to Burton's Nightmare
By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 5/29/2008

MAY 29 | Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will launch its first embedded digital copy within the standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas: Collector’s Edition on Aug. 26.

The studio has branded the included copy ‘Disneyfile,’ suggesting that future titles could also carry this feature.

Disney did not specify what sorts of devices will be compatible to play back the copies.

Additional bonus features in the Nightmare Before Christmas titles include an exclusive introduction by Burton on the Blu-ray edition.

Among the extras in both standard and Blu-ray sets are an original poem penned by Burton that is narrated by actor Christopher Lee and commentary from Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman. Several featurettes are also packed into the releases, including a tour of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride and a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Nightmare Before Christmas. Burton’s short film Vincent also is included.

Nightmare Before Christmas will street as a two-disc standard set ($32.99), one-disc Blu-ray ($39.99) and limited edition Ultimate Collector’s standard DVD set ($179.99). Prebook is July 15.

I had a newbie question. :) Is the 40 GB PS3 a good buy for someone that does not have PS2 and is moving to India soon? We are going to buy a multi-system TV to take with us from the US. The lady at Walmart when I was purchasing this started going off on how many problems a 40 GB PS3 had and that the 80 GB was the one to get. She also warned me that this is a computer and not a video game (I know this already). She also advised me against doing any downloads. She said that it will lock up the system to where nothing else can be done after that.

So, I am in need to expert advice. :D

I too am confused, which version PS-3 to buy. The one that's compatible with previous games and doesn't go obsolete right after you buy it.

When I was ready to buy 40GB one, they recommended to wait till 80 GB arrives in June and that for new games you'll need newer (80 GB) model. End of May I checked and they said 80 GB came and has been discontinued, only 1-2 weeks on sheves, in favour of 120 GB and 60 GB models coming end of June 2008. But, a big but, these won't be backward compatible. 80 GB one too was partly backward compatible.

What do you suggest ??

I've had my 40GB PS3 since November 2007. I love my 40 GB PS3. I've never had any problems with it. I've downloaded games, videos, surfed the net, connected it to my PC and viewed pictures, listened to music and watched videos that are on my PC and never had it freeze up on me! Since I don't have a PS2, backwards compatibility wasn't an issue with me. If i'm going to play games, I play PS3 games!

Walmart employees aren't the most knowledgeable people in the world!!
