Downloading what? Pirated content? There is no HD download yet that is legal, is there? And till you can legally download HD-DVD quality it will take several years. And there is nothing worthless about a well done HD disc. Any improvement in the future will be small since well done 1080p is already very close to the quality of the best elements for 35mm films.

A lot better than the existing DVDs.

The Hindi will be uncompressed or lossless compressed. As good as the master tapes are.

If you calibrate your subwoofer a few decibals (4 - 6 Dbs) higher than your other speakers, it improves the sound quality!!

I haven't come across any DTS HD-DVDs. The other day I saw Batman Begins with the TrueHD sound and it sounded better than DD.

Ah yes, it's all illegal. And it's often blocky crap with low bit rates. If you don't buy good quality Bollywood HD discs on principle and download instead you are just part of the quality problem, promoting bad quality with your actions. No company in their right mind releases quality product at considerable cost if the target audience does not appreciate and reward with purchases. You get what you deserve.

So true! Couple of us started iDream DVD to make quality Telugu DVDs hoping quality will win. We got great support from only handful of customers. Most others enjoyed making copies or shared rips online and feeling great about their techical brillance in being able to enjoy high quality iDream DVDs without having to pay a penny! It was all so depressing and finally we sold iDream as we didn't believe we have enough customers who care about quality.

I think most of us here should really see for quality relatively. Instead of expecting Hollywood quality encourage any company who may be the best amongst worst we have. Only then, we will have hope to see improvement.

If people who pay BIG$$$ for 1080P TVs and top notch Home Theater systems think about free downloads, what do you think is the fate of quality Home Video for Indian cinema which only looks for quick bucks?

that beats me kids!!! I could not believe the attitude of learned desi viewers buying $4 copy a DVD5 of new hindi/telugu films, instead renting for $2/day.

The store will buy 3-4 copies, make 3--40 DVD 5s and imagine profit!

This is where the quality DVDs die! What our customers can do to keep our hope for quality DVDs is INSIST the store for ORIGINAL DVD or his business goes elsewhere! If more people start doing this, stores will surely change their copying habits.

I don't understand why customers still have to pay $2 for a copied DVD when he can rent original for $2!

Just 2-3 years back it was easy to sell 1200-2000 Telugu DVDs(new movies) to Indian Stores in US. Now, that number is between 600-1000 and the DVD rights prices have increased 3-4 times!

Even if we look at members at ZULM, most of us here are there from the beginning! :(
