I've been looking for these Box sets for a long time.
All Tom Dick and Harry TV shows are avail in Box sets but I never found GET SMART DVDs except for 4 or 5 Get Smart films.

I have all but one or two episodes, on VHS that I recorded off TV (Mediocore PQ as mostly I recorded them in SLP). I did print (from Get Smart web site) synopsis of all the episodes sequentially.

Now, as tributes to Don Adams/ GET SMART keep coming, I hope some one will bring out GET SMART Box Sets as well.

Who'll catch the first announcement (I mean, the Box DVD set release)??

Just thought of googling "Get Smart". Sure, there was quite a bit going on to demand "Get Smart DVD Set". Millions signed on petition.

Also saw this news/ announcement for "Get Smart DVD Set" coming in 2006 from HBO. :D

http://www.wouldyoubelieve.com/faq.html

"HBO will be releasing Get Smart on DVD, starting in 2006. HBO has an excellent track record and so I'm glad to see the show under such good care."

Probably the best site for television shows on dvd is:

TVShowsOnDVD.Com

I use them quite often .. but getting back to Get Smart below is another link (from tvshowsondvd.com) confirming what Rana Saab spoke about with regards to HBO releasing the series:

Almost a year later .. Rana Bhai more news regarding Get Smart DVD Box Set Season 1:

Time-Life received a limited supply of the Get Smart sets straight from the factory, and we were lucky enough to receive them. The phone booth box isn't ready yet (so they can't ship the sets out to their customers just yet), but I got so excited when I saw the sets that I snapped some photos for you guys to take a look at, and so you know these things are actually going to be shipping in the next few weeks. If you haven't ordered your set now then you should get on it ASAP. The 5 season, 25 disc set is selling for $199.96 from Time-Life. Remember, Time-Life has a 1 year exclusive on this, so you won't find it in stores until Nov, 2007!

This shot is pretty basic - it's the season 1 set with the plastic slip cover on it:

Unfortunately, it's not easy to receive it outside of US. I'll phone Canadian toll free # to find out if possible to get it here in Canada.

Moreover, if shipped from US, there is customs hassle as well.

Don't know if internet order can be placed for Canada, but the Canadian contact # for Time Life took order for me, priced and delivery for Canada.

Canadian price is $ 249.96 (Cdn) plus taxes and shiping. Total is $ 307.74 incl all taxes and delivery for 25 DVD plus extras pack.

Time Life Toll Free # for Canadian Orders: 1-800-621-7026

(BTW, not sure if it'll be delivered before X-mas ?? It's 3 to 6 week delivery because it's shipped from US and has to clear customs/ border, scheduled for few occasions only for Time Life. Time Life clears customs etc.)

Still no sign of shipment.

When I checked, courteous customer rel dept said that shipment came back to them and within just 7 days of my order. When it takes 7-10 days in mail and 1-2 weeks to ship, how could they receive it back in just 7 days ?? No one knows. May be, it's not supposed to leave US borders ??

Anyway, they'll send it again (no extra cost to me). But, they are out of stock now. It's on back order. Another 5-6 week wait.
Still, well worth the wait.

Ordered Dec 1, 2006, never delivered, revived order Jan 6, 2007, but they pressed the wrong button and it ended up as cancelled order. Checked again Feb 6-7 2007 and revived the order again. They said 5-6 weeks delivery time. But, I got it in 5-6 days instead. :D

There was no customs hassle as the order was shipped from within Canada.

I know the content. Packaging and pamphlets are excellent. Sure, it's worth every penny and the wait.

Have been watching Season 1 DVD #1, 2.
Although watching on TV, the print looked like film print and I noticed no interlacing artifacts/ flicker etc. I found it strange as I expected a video look from a TV program DVD. As I checked it frame by frame, it became clear, it originated from a 24 fps film. Bravo!
Was the Get Smart TV program really shot on film ?? Must be. There was no 24 fps digital video back in 1965 or was it ??

I know, in video days, many quality conscious producers shot their programs on film so that they don't have to make format conversions (PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL or to SECAM etc etc) and that they maintain best quality broadcasts whether in PAL or NTSC or whatever.

DVD encoding is Pseudo-Progressive but it has perfect 2-3 pull down available. Any cheap 2-3 pull down recognizing DVD player will give a perfect Progressive picture.

-------------------------
If this set releases in PAL, hopefully it'll be direct from film again and hence default Progressive.

----------------------------

As the program seems to be shot on film, its HD-DVD and Blue-Ray-DVD may be on the horizon too ??
