Good news. Any info as to whether it will include any extras?

The Lagaan dvd by Columbia is not bad, but there really isn't much in terms of extra features. I would love to get this if the making, promos, etc are included.

Thanks.

Yes, I am looking forward to this DVD too -- and knowing Excel, we can expect special features on the DVD. As and when I come across news, I'll post here :-)

I own the Korean R3/R1/R4 Columbia DVD, and it has the following bonus features:
1. Deleted Scenes (17:43 with optional English subtitles)
2. Filmography in English for Ashutosh Gowariker, Aamir Khan, Paul Blackthorne, Gracy Singh and Rachel Shelley

=
Check out the image comparison of the existing R1 and R2/4 releases here... (I indicated that R2/4 was slightly cropped - as "Deepinder" ;-))

I'm looking forward to it. If things turn out well, I will try to get this along with Agneepath.

Thanks NewDeep for keeping us updated.

I hope they include Satyajit Bhatkal's documentary. On a separate disc, of course.

Aamir Khan Productions will be releasing the Oscar-nominated `Lagaan' on DVD for the first time in the country. The DVD to be released by Excel Home Videos is a much-awaited offering in the home entertainment market. Apart from the National Awards, `Lagaan' has won honours at all major film festivals including Locarno, Bergen, Leeds and the European Film Festival. Multiple SKUs are expected to be available

dts is confirmed on the premium version...

Satyajit Bhatkal’s Chale Chalo is also confirmed but not sure if can be accomodated on the dts version (given there's just one disc and Excel have to keep the Indian market in mind.)

But arsh, HD is HD! I did not say HD-DVD. HD-DVD and Blue Ray are both... HD. And I think it's not the Sony transfer but a new one supervised by Aamir Khan and done in US. If the scratches are not gone I will be disappointed.

Who else should supervise? It's the director and/or DOP. They decide what colors and contrast are correct. Better them than some anonymous operator with God knows what taste.

Wow!!... I dint know that......Well then what i interpret from this is that in Indian DVDs manufacture, If not all then atleast YRF dvds shd have gone thru such supervision(the film production house being the same) right ? If yes, then whats the explanation of all those dvds that have come from their house especially DDLJ WHICH IS THEIR OWN LIFE LONG PROFIT PROVIDER FILM, and considering the fact that the DVD was released 6 years post release of the film, what excuse can anybody have for the injustice done to the DVD? The colors look extremely washed out and I can never forgive Aditya Chopra or Yash Chopra Or Manmohan Singh(Cinematographer/DOP) for it. I feel a stone piercing my heart everytime I watch that disc.

Ok Allright.... I think I got carried away.... but still for some gyan, anybody has a solid proof about such supervision done for Hindi DVDs in the past?
