I have just finished a small film project for my GNVQ course and I want to put the film which was recorded with a DV cam onto a DVD disc as a showcase reel when I apply to University and also to send copies to mates, people who took part in the film and family (who want to make sure that me leaving my law course is justified). But have no idea as to how and go about it and I don't know how the quality would look on DVD.

I shot the film using 16x9 mode so would that help to improve quality?

Have you guys got any ideas of how I should do this? Help me!!! ???

What's GNVQ?

The quality would look fine on DVD. I once did a similar transfer back in film school - but our school had a deal with a DVD pressing facility for the final product and we didn't use a DVD-R burner. I suppose you'll use the DVD-R method.

Did you use true 16X9? This feature is available on cameras like Canon XL-1. I'm not sure if this technology could be applied to press/burn anamorphic video onto DVD - but it'd be great if it can. Actually, I don't see why it shouldn't be possible.

Hey fellas,

I'm actually an avid enough fan of film, to be thinking about going into filmmaking.

I'm working on my Accounting degree right now, but I wanted to pursue film afterwards or around my current coursework. I think a lot of you are in the UK, but anyhow, information on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks lots!

GNVQ = General National Vocational Qualification, which is studied under the Business Technical Education Council in the UK.

But Ali's version is also valid too
