Just wondering.... What has happened to all these movies which never got released... Are they still in the making?

Dus - Mukul Anand's dream project?
Ta Ra Rum Pum - SK and AR Rahman's project?
Time Machine - Aamir Khan movie?
Jai Shiv Shankar - Rajesh Khanna/Dimple flick?
Libaas - RD/Gulzar movie?
Tadap - Chunky/Nana film with brilliant music by RD?

Any other 'long-time in making films' ?

DUS

After the director died, they tried to find a suitable director to finish off the project but then ultimately decided that no director could do justice to the film as Mukal Anand would have. Therefore the wife of MA released music video(s) like Hindustani which featured Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty in a live performance with parts of the film.

Regarding the other, sorry I don't know. I only heard of Time Machine and was looking forward to it as it was suppose to be the desi version of Back To The Future with our own Aamir Khan as Michael J. Fox.

That's a shame, because DUS looked cool.

Mind you the last time they asked someone to finish a film, it was a disaster... remember Gurudev? This was a dream flick by Vinod Mehra and when Raj Sippy stepped in (after Rakesh Roshan rejected it), the movie turned out to be a damp-squib!!!

DUS was one movie I really looked forward to but was glad it got shelved. Whenever the director or actor is replaced because they died or went to jail (Gurudev, Trimurti), they always turn out to bad. Trimurti I looked forward to because Sanjay Dutt was in it and it would have been awesome (I am a SD fan :) ) !!! Anil Kapoor ruined it :vangry: !!

'Dus' was one big movie - with a great soundtrack

At one time Ramesh Sippy was also in the running to complete the project.
..............
.........Does anyone know where I can get the 'Dus' music

video from.

Ta Ra Rum Pum -
Wasn't this the same film that was to be Preity Zinta's debut
and was to be directed bt Shekhar Kapur.... before heading
overseas.

Jai Shiv Shankar -
Censors held this back because of Rajesh's character dying
in the climax.

Libaas - RD/Gulzar movie?
Thought this one was released.

Tadap -
Director passed away, leaving his first and second wife to go through a coart battle regards his..... you know what.

Libaas - is complete and was shown at a film festival in Bangalore. unfortunately i missed seeing it then. it will not get a commercial release because the producer has some problems getting it distributed. gulzar commented on this in an online chat a while ago.

Jai Shiv Shankar - the prints are with the IT Dept. ever since Kaka arreared on his taxes. in any case Kaka was relieved that IT was willing to write off a certain amount of his arrears as none was willing to touch the movie since it was outdated.

all this from sources here and there and hearsay.

Ram Gopal Varma: “I want to make a ‘Darna’ series.”

Ram Gopal Varma will be directing ‘Time machine’, which will star Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The director has wanted to work with these two talented actors for quite a while and now he finally has the opportunity to do so. In fact, he has an added bonus, as Shahrukh Khan will also be producing the film. Director Varma says, “The minute Shahrukh offered to produce the film I agreed. Some people think it might restrict my freedom, but in fact, I think it gives me more freedom since I can forget about production hassles for once and just concentrate on directing. I am writing the script too.” He further adds, “Who makes the film isn’t important, the film is and these are mere technicalities.” Varma’s film has an element of time shift and his story is set in three time zones, the past, present and future.

On the issue of similarities between Varma and Harry Baweja’s films on Time machine too, Ramgopal says, “Harry met me and I told him there are plenty of Hollywood films based on Time Machine. Films don’t work on plots, they work on narrative, characters and how the plot is constructed.” The director also disclaims the notion that Kareena walked out from Harry Baweja’s film to take on his film. Varma guffaws, “The notion seems quite far-fetched. To my knowledge, Kareena left Harry’s film long before I signed her. I am not concerned with why she left Harry’s film, as it is her personal choice. I am pretty sure that Harry’s film and mine are completely different.”
