actually, the guy was curteous(sp?). he explained there was a price error. he asked if he should return my money (what was the alternative?purchase at regular price?). I replied, "yeah, cancel the order".

anyway, big chains/retailers are not much diff. they don't honor "price match" policies. for example, if an Item at Fry's is on Sale at in-store price of $49.99 but there are $40 INSTANT OR Mail-In rebates, Circuit City or the likes had the same Item with an in-store price of $44.99 but no rebates, they WON'T match to Fry's Instant/Mail rebates. But if the tables are turned, and Fry's had a cheaper in-store price, and Circuit city or the likes had higher in-store price but cheaper after rebates, They STILL won't match to the other stores in-store price because they will claim that their price is cheaper after rebates

People like myself, that can't be bothered to send out a freaking rebate get stuffed in the end. I try not to visit local retailers. I'm going to be paying the high prices anyway, might as well do it from the comfort of my own home, and have the garbage delivered to my home. No need to sit in traffic, waste time/gas.

ok, that was a long digression. now i must go rant about something else.. :D

We operate on a very low margin. If any of the etailers make more than $1 or $2 / dvd (except India Plaza) I would be surprised. So we can not afford the "service" that amazon and the likes offer. Just to let you know, the engilish DVD you buy in many popular sites for 14.99 and all are bought for $8-$10 / piece (because they buy in bulk - like 500K) and sold for 100% profit.

some of the local guys sell at more than MSRP!! Raaga :!: :!: I"m surprised there is such a low marging for even Hindi DVDs!!

BTW, amazon is YET to make a profit ;) according to reports, they merely break-even. people say they expanded too much, but I think in the long-run it will pay off!

A guy called and before he told anything, I told him to I know I know price error, go ahead and cancel the order. Anyway I was not expecting they will give it anyway.
