VD Awards 07 honor excellence in 41 categories

Organized by Studio Systems and held as part of its DVD entertainment Summit at Taj Land's End, Mumbai on November 24, the third annual DVD Awards received a total of 223 entries and recognized excellence in the Indian DVD Business across 41 categories.

The total Awards tally bagged by the Home Video companies read thus: Shemaroo led the list bagging 9 Awards, Excel - 6, Eros - 4, SaReGaMa - 3, Moser Baer, Sony Home Entertainment, Super Cassettes, Rudraa, KAD, AP Intl bagged 2 Awards each while Ultra, Yashraj, Adlabs, Central Home, Digital Entertainment, Sri Balaji & Sound Entertainment with 1 trophy each.

Interestingly the categories included Animation, Games as well as Multimedia. Amongst these categories Excel won the 'Best DVD Rom content - International' for Walt Disney Classics Peter Pan and 'Best Game Play DVD' for 2142 Battlefield, Shemaroo won the DVD Award for 'Best Animated Movie - National' for Pentamedia Graphics The Legend of Buddha, 'Best DVD ROM content National' for BookBox 1&2, Sa Re Ga Ma won in the 'Best Animated Movie - International' DVD category for Happy Feet.

Anil Chopra, MD of Studio Systems and the founder of the DVD Awards shared, "We have gone through an intensive judging process for the Awards. A lot is dependent on the entries we have received. There ought to have been more entries, but I thank all the delegates and participants for having made this conference and awards, a success"
