Beware of Anniyan DVD

1. One version of Anniyan with Ayngaran logo is released - but it is NOT ayngaran version. This is a pirated version. The quality is similar to pirated VCD quality. No english subtitles.

2. Pyramid is releasing Anniyan. Stay away from this version as well.

Stay away from these two versions. The main reason being it has good songs and sound effect and it should be watched in good quality.

Ayngaran version is coming up with DTS-Dolby 5.1 and Progressive DVD.

Though that sounds good on paper, off-late the quality of Ayngaran DVD's seem to be going downhill :(

IF it hasn't gone into production yet, tell them yank out the DTS & hitch up the bitrate for the video!! Keep only DD5.1!

Man i made two mistakes.

1) I saw an online VCD copy of Anniyan
2) Saw it with female family members.

Don't make these two grave mistakes with Anniyan.

So I'm a little less excited about the dvd now than I was after watching the film in theaters.

That’s funny i thought after the "boys" debacle shankar would never repeat that mistake again , but then from what i remember from Gentleman to Boy there is always an "adult" undercurrent in all his movies.

Infact the only thing i liked in BOYS ( other than the music) is the 1st half - seem to show a fairly accurate description of pretty much what we did or wanted to do - somebody i know made a fair statement about BOYS the movie , he called it "Boys is for Boys only" ;) .

I am actually disappointed with the hypocrisy shown by the audience, when they can accept songs with dubious meanings ( "Paisa Gopuram Sanju getakku " - for those non-tamilians , its means the 'tower of pisa is down' or that hopeless song from thripachi ) as "family" entertainment here comes a movie which pretty much showed what happened on the streets and they literally pelted him with stones. We as audience seem too weak or should i dare say immature and hypocrites

It's not like Shankar hasn't put extreme violence in his films before. The only difference between Boys/Anniyan and his other films is that there were plenty of scenes to appeal mainly to females, as if that excuses the rest of the film.

Boys was good until the meeting scene with all the parents.

I think the females were just too bored by the really long action scenes...
they would just watch movies like Jeans anyday over Anniyan.

Boys was good in the first half...second half was messed up...the breaking up, the death, the earthquake....too much...

If Rajni or Vijay does any double meaning songs / some ugly romantic scenes, its falls under "family entertainer".

if Kamal or any other folks does it, it falls under "adult" movie category.

Man, pl dont talk about Thiruppachi. The songs are teh worst in recent years, but still is at top 10 for the last 4 or 5 months.

Some of the scenes why boys didnt do well include the "dating" trip where they talk about masturbation etc. This is too much. Also the end is so cinematic, and specially the SaReGaMe song. Though the song was really good, its too loud and lot of ppl got headache after the song.

I watched Ullam Ketkumae and there was a similar situational song (competition between colleges) - Kanavugal kaanum song, to me this is lot better than in meaning, music and everything.

heheheheh, I may be alone here, but I love Thirupachi songs. Some(most?) of them are lifts of Telugu songs by Mani-Ekalavya-Sharma & Devi-Sri-Prasad! They are cheesy in Telugu as well ;) that's what makes them so special!! :D

DeviSri Prasad - Kattu Kattu = Shankar Dada MBBS - Pattu Pattu
Mani Sharma - Kannum Kannum = Gudumba Shankar - Chitti Nadumu <- Didn't like this song initially, but it grew on me after a couple of plays & telugu version is really cute...the video too. Didn't like the tamil video even though Trisha is in it! Oh my kadavalai!

I'd rather listen to DSP/MS mass songs over anything ARR has released in the past 5 years with exception to Alai Payuthay & Kannathil Muththamittaal!

The tunes are peppy, but the meaning is not something you would like. "Appan panna thappila aatha peththa veththala valanthu nikkuthu" is not at all a lyric. Someone pervert must have wrote those lines.

Today I was watching a program in Sun TV where lyrists P A Vijay sang "Ovvoru pookalum" from autograph, and entire audiance clapped for the song. Even if IR/ARR sing one of their best song, tamil folks dont clap, just not part of the culture, but P A Vijay and Bharadwaj made them clap, just because the tune and the lyrics are so beautiful.

Pav, is Trisha ur fav now (after Pavatharini got engaged?)

I haven't listened to MS that much, but DSP was really impressive in few albums i heard. Sachin songs for ex have a special sound to it and repeatabillity, and songs from NN were really good.

Anniyan version in end of august. TheMahal has been "importing" stuff lately. I brought the matter to Ayngaran's attention during MX, but no use. The loss is for Ayngaran only.
