From what I heard Bose was banned in USA. No one is releasing this DVD for sure. Some one may bring this from India (Shemaroo or something).

No film can be 'Banned' in the US. The freedom of speech as protected by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights does not allow censorship of any form.

i dont know if you know this, but even Sun TV (Tamil channel) is censored here before telecasting. In india they showed the "beheading" of people in afganistan, which was removed in US edition. They dont want "americans" to be "spoiled" with any unwanted image/story.

From my distributor (who also release movies in theatres), the movie was banned for 2 reason

1. Bose is declared terrorist
2. In the movie Hitler was "hailed"

I dont know if its true, but the movie and DVD is not the talk of the town.

Not completly , i remember the now infamous Cannibal Holocaust was initially banned in the US on account of 'curelty to animals' and was released latter with a X-rating and NC-17 after some censorship ( i saw this in india as a sick college student  !). It will be curious how US will treat the new British film '9 songs' ( any one seen this yet )

With Al-Jazeera pushing for a full-fledged english based news channel in north america it will be intersting to watch american censorship in its full glory !

The idea that Bose would be censored in America is a bit absurd, especially given the reasoning.

I'm not doubting dvdunlimited here, but I just don't buy the logic, especially having lived in this country my entire life and having seen the kind of films that are allowed to be released here.

I hope what I heard is just a rumor. I badly wanted to see this movie. May be its not a viable commercial "businesS" that no one want to release the DVD.

Interestingly even a "pirated" version of the disc or VHS isnt available in the market!

Once again, "The film is not 'Banned' in the US. The freedom of speech as protected by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights does not allow censorship in any form".

I found this on the http://www.battleroyalefilm.net/movie/banned.html website - it relates to this discussion although it's about a different film!

-------------------------

"Banned" implies a decision by the government to make exhibition, distribution or sale of the film against the law; technically, the U.S. government does not do that, leaving the responsibility of censoring or choosing not to distribute certain films to the movie industry itself, under the auspices of the Motion Picture Association of America, which assigns ratings to the films. A distributor can even choose not to let the MPAA review their movie and release it unrated; it makes it extremely difficult to put in the multiplex, but an unrated artistic movie can surely get an arthouse screening somewhere, and the distributor can always release it on DVD.

-------------------------

There are lots of films that are not distributed in the US ... technically it is not a ban - but it is as good as a ban. Battle Royale II is a prime example of this.

I was in Frankfurt(in U.S now) last week and picked up the BOSE DVD. I watched it on the airplane..the picture quality was good for a 15 inch screen...It has EROS Logo on the outside...and says "ONLY FOR SALE IN EUROPE"..
