can any1 recommend the following DVDs in terms of PQ and film quality.

Nastik
parvaraish
hera pheri
anand
chupke chupke
kaalia BEI
ganga jamna saraswati
zanjeer
khudaar

also in general what are the essential AB DVDs that one should own?

All the movies listed have had DEI/BEI DVD releases so they as good as they get from Indian DVDs. Zanjeer is the only DVD not in its proper original aspect ratio. Nastik, Khudaar and Ganga Jamna Saraswati suffer from the infamous DEI squish problem – otherwise there pretty good.

Other good AB movies that have good DVDS, all released by BEI/DEI;

Deewaar
Amar Akbar Anthony
Alaap
Do Aur Do Paanch
Kasme Vaade
Geraftaar
Trishul
Adalat
Parvarish

Good AB movies but with flawed DVDs from DEI, mainly cropped video
Khuda Gawah
Laawaris
Ram Balram
Shaan
Sharaabi
Desh Premee
Namak Halal
Mr. Natwarlaal
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar

Other great AB movies, on other DVDs labels, maybe worth a look, not great DVD;
Ganga Ki Saugand (Shemaroo)
Barsaat ki Ek Raat (EVP)
Shahenshah (TTV)

ABHIMAAN on old EVP DVD is as good as DEI DVDs. Even newer EVP disc is not too bad.

"Mrityudaata" was OK; "Lal Baadshah" was worse (but [unintentionally] funnier).
