Khuda Nigehebaan is in the Shemaroo version ... and it was also in the new colour version when I saw it in the cinema. Probably they didn't put it in the song menu as it leads on from Yeh Dil Ki Lagi!

Anyway - I was sure that I read an article a while back where they said that the full version of the film will be released on DVD.

From what I saw in theater, the picture here is pretty close to it... The DVD picture is a little blury though.
But otherwise colours are the same aspect ration is correct (I think) I would say the DVD is prefectly ok..

So, by no means this new dvd could have untampered OAR authoring

:(

so, this was best eros could do, that crop from sides and try to refit in 4:3 frame!

1960 OAR 4:3 (most likely)

Theatrical AR of restored version-----1.78:1
Making a 1.78:1 out of original 4:3 requires cutting top and/ or bottom of frames, not sides.

EROS DVD 1.52:1:
Making 1.52:1 out of original 4:3 cuts picture from top and/ or bottom, not sides. Cuts less than what it cuts to make 1.78:1 out of 4:3.
So, DVD did it right.

1.52:1 frame can be presented either in a 4:3 (black bars at top and bottom) or in anamorphic (black bars on sides), giving same picture resolution.
So, nothing wrong not making it anamorphic.

If AR of the restored version (1.78:1) is to be presented, then anamorphic DVD will be better. But, note that 1.52:1 has extra picture at top and bottom as compared to 1.78:1, but less picture than original 4:3.

Well, now I have seen, some part of it, sit through..my verdict is

" DISAPPOINTING REMASTER''

I wish they would leave film as far AR(NOT BAD IN DVD FOR VIEWING IF ORIG WAS 4:3), but colors are outrageously nasty, if you ask me, oversaturated, fake...bla bla bla!

It took grace out of film, they also screwed up last 30 minutes where originaly colors looked more natural, messing them up to match the rest!

well!!

Sound is darn good for film of that age, no hissing..nothing.

Print still sub optimal and shaky at places!

I wish, they would just restore and remaster i its original form, and let classic stay classic like CASA BLANCA!

On watching again, film is interesting even to younger folks too, to my susprise!

Performances are top notch and they dont go over board..Madhubala is simply Amazing!!!! 8) Her facial expressions are admirably solid in each and every scene, charm, naive, courageous, frightened, rebelious!! wow!!

Lachhu Maharaj's choreography for that age goes beautiful with Anarkali's Charisma!!!

She is no less, but more of devdas's aish and Madhuri at that time!!

Did she win any award for that?? in 1960?

BTW! She does remind you of Meena Kumari at times!

Holly cow!!! Kohinoor and Dilip Kumar, is like SRK for BADSHAH and not for DEVDAS

Kohinoor was not a bad film, light hearted! more commercial, mass appeal I guess!! Typical FF kinda film to honour in music channel style!

Yeah - is that not possible ?? . I mean, if you think the color look fake then the "in theory" the easiest way to getting around it the problem is to switch to B/W - right ??

Best way to switch back is to switch back to B/W Shemaroo DVD. No cropping or cutting. No extra processing (any processing, degrades quality). Plus you get the full length version.
