I read the below article on Sify, and was curious what this was going to mean in term sof future dvd releases.
If the rights are only released now internationally, then were Ayngaran dvds genuine? Would there be newer and special features filled dvds of MR released soon?
If anyone has more news, please feel free to feed in here...

AP International is Ayngaran, so I expect rehashes of the Ayngaran DVDs they've already done.

Who owns the rights to the pre-Madras Talkies and Aalayam films? GV Films (MR's brother G. Venkateswaran) produced some of them.

I did not see even a single hindi film dvd from all these bhedu guru directors who r claimed to be ahead of their time.

They just know one thing, how to rake pockets of naives by churning 3-4 HAHK, A couple KKKG, Multiple like VZ, Swades, Lakshya, KK, and not the least, Quran, bible, bhagwan geeta versions of DEVDAS

Only a few barely good dvds so far are aberrations!

Okay AP is ayngaran, so they decided to start releasing DVDs in India also, so they launced with some Mani's collection as well. The print is going to be exactly same in most cases, but in some cases with out DTS / subtitles.

Normally tamil DVDs take 3 months to come in DVD after the movie release and in AP case its going to be 6 months atleast.

Just like the way they started Shruthi and stoped eventually, I am sure they will stop AP in India also, since the price is different from Ayngaran price and that will create un-necessary issue for Ayngaran. either they will have to reduce Ayngaran price or they will have to give less quality AP. They cant do both.

Starting from a week from now, you will see etailers slowly start selling these products (just like the way we started selling TSeries DVD! and now they in main US market)

In addition, ppl will also bring in DVDs from other companies, like Raj Video, who used to do VHS and VCD and now in DVD market.

Raj Video Vision is going to to DVDs? I hope they don't just put VCD on to DVD.

They already have DVD in Tamilnadu. Its okay quality (lot closer to Shruthi version) - no subtitle, some cases no chapters. The recent ones have chapters, but hte PQ is same (probably VCD to DVD copy)

The DVD looks okay on a 27" TV, but when I played on my projector its giving dull picture. Seems to be pseudo progressive. It has DTS.

FYI, they have more than 40 titles, ranging from MR movies to some recent junk movies. I am ordering only the good ones. This is for those who want bargain DVDs. Price would be betn 12-14. Will know more when I get my first shipment with customs + shipping.

the second shot looks good. i would've prefferred Telugu audio(DD5.1) option rather than Tamil DTS option. do they have english subs? I can't tell from the covers.
