there is missing audio in parts of AAA DEI dvd;
e.g Rishi Kapoors entrance scene at hospital. Does anyone know if this is fixed on the new BEI or other versions?

Finally got around to checking out the Shemaroo DVD. Haven't watched it all yet, but my impression is that the sharpness is a bit better on the DEI disc, but the Shemaroo colours and contrast are much better. Audio clarity sounded the same. Shemaroo gets my vote here. 8)

I've taken screenshots to compare with Ganti's shots in this thread (DEI top, Shemaroo bottom).

Based on the screen-shots, the Shemaroo version is overly dark, soft, and — barring somewhat more accurate color rendition — is a clear loser in comparison with DEI's excellent release of the film.

DEI's enhancement shows a brighter picture overall, but it doesn't work for the whole movie. The sea shots show this clearly. maybe if u adjust shemaroo's brightness manually it will show a more pleasing picture.

This is another DEI - Shemaroo example like Khalnayak, good work stephen.

......or decrease the contrast settings whilst watching the DEI edition.

Clearly, both DVD's suck.

Thanks Stephen. Is it possible to take a couple of screenies using the VIVID setting, in PowerDVD?

I just use WinDVD I'm afraid, which doesn't have a vivid setting.

The Shemaroo DVD definitely doesn't suck. The comparison shots are not a good representation of the picture quality. On some scenes (mostly still shots and close-ups), the clarity is excellent. Here's a few more shots to illustrate...

Thanks for the comparison and screen shots Stephen – I copied the screen shots over. I would watch the Shemaroo version any day over the DEI DVD judging by those screen shots.

Shemaroo brightness looks better. If you look at some of the DEI shots (such as of AB in the church or AB and Parveen on the boat) the bright parts clip and wash out.

That second "Shemaroo" batch certainly looks all right, but I still very much like my DEI copy of this film -- :D , 8) .
