Shahenshah to me is one of the most ridiculous films I've ever seen.

Among the "masala" flicks of Bachchan — i.e., Toofan, Mard, Ganga Jamuna Saraswathi, Jadugar, Suhaag, etc. — Shahenshah is one of my favorites. I think it greatly outshines its "modern-day" counter-parts, and, certainly, it's a find memory of my childhood. As different as it is from "artsy cinema," for the genre of movie that the film is, I think it is outstanding.

Oh, that's why I got confused (I was more or less "all-praise" about the film).

Nice job. Both look decent (neither perfect); BEI's is a little sharper than TTV's, but, it seems sometimes only artificially so.

Thanks, Glad you like it.
I would say the picture is better on the Tip Top DVD and the sound is better on the BEI DVD but when the songs start then the cracks in the sound can be heard on both DVD's but the Tip Top DVD has cracks in the sound threw out the whole film as the BEI one only has the cracks when the songs start

They showed Shahenshah today on Zee Cinema. Did anyone manage to take a look at their master. It looked anamorphic and miles ahead of what comes on SET MAX..

remember the deep resonant mechanical breathing whenever shahenshah is on screen -- a la darth vader ;-)
amar utpal's music was stylish and glamourous, an ode/tribute to laxmikant-pyarelal-style in many ways

Pen DVD of Shahenshah is now available in India.
Some screenshots (png format, captured off laptop) below, and also copied above (in zoran's post) for comparison.
