My friend has the same brand Home Theater system, but he has four Panasonic tower speakers and a different looking Subwoofer. The Center speaker is the same as well as the DVD Player. He has the Panasonic model number HT900 US.

You will be happy with the Panasonic system!!

Thanks for the advice but something like this I would rather buy new with warranty. I bought it from Best Buy in Canada.

Wow the sound from Indian DVDs is so pathetic except for DEI DVDs. I cant believe what I have been missing. English DVDs are simply out of this world with the surround and bass effects ie.ID4, T2.

with indian dvds, you will certainly get better sound than your TV speakers with a good system. sure most indian dvds don't have a great 5.1 mix, but there are some that do (kaaka kaaka, mission kashmir). if indian dvd authors do anything decently, it's the sound.

enjoy, if you want advice on a projector, a good place to go is http://www.hometheaterforum.com. just make sure you maintain a large viewing distance from your screen as most indian dvds need a large viewing distance to mask the crappy picture quality.

Actually through the tv you cant hear the distortion which some dvds have and are only able to hear it thru a good system. Just like if you have a smaller tv you wont be able to see the pixelation seen in movies but you will on a big screen.

I wanted to hear Lamhe through my system and the sound was coming out of all the speakers and didnt sound good at all, boy was I disappointed as this was one of my favorites. Then I watched Kaho Na Pyar Hai, M:K, HSSH and Gupt ... all were simply fantastic!

What other indian (bollywood) movies have wicked 5.1 coming from Ero$/DEI/Video $ound/YRF etc.?

it's true about crappy sound quality being magnified through a good system.

the way to fix the lamhe problem is to set your receiver to output stereo sound rather than 5.1.

i think there's a thread somewhere where people have listed their favorite audio tracks on a dvd. i know Dil Se and Asoka R2 got a lot of votes.
