i bought this dvd player a couple of days ago and this makes Main Hoon Na dvd player look better then what it was on my old DVI player. On top of that it was cheap only $299.99 cdn

i think the samsung only upconverts through the DVI output, so if your TV does not have a DVI input, you will not benefit.

there is a zenith/lg model that upconverts to 1080i through its component video output.

Your PC and Power DVD does the same or better. As PC monitors are Progressive, you get Progressive pic @ resolution of your PC monitor (or projection) when you select full screen.

If a DVD is made from a video source and/ or is field averaged, remember GIGO (garbage in garbage out).

480P, 480i, 720P, 1080i, 1880P are TV standards.
There are lots of standards for DTV and for PC resolutions. Recall 1366x768 or 1600x1200 or 1920x1440 etc PC (Progressive by def) resolutions.
