Yash Chopra diversifies!
By Sam ©2004 Bollyvista.com

Yash Chopra, moving with the changing times, is all set to diversify his banner Yash Raj Films into various related sectors of filmmaking. After establishing his banner, he moved on to the overseas distribution sector and opened up branches in London and New York. Now, he has put into operation DVD and VCD making plants and come out with his own labels. Also, we hear that his own music company, christened Yash Raj Music will begin with his latest directorial film starring Amitabh and Shah Rukh!

Sabko Pata hai...
Non-DEI/BEI/Ayngaran dvds ke liye
1.) Go to the shop and get 10 blank DVD's
2.) Go to your fav grocer store and rent the CRappy DVD for 1-2$
3.) Use DVDFab to make exact copies of the DVD, with menus
4.) Return the rented dvd
5.) Live happily for 2 years and make a fresh copy :D

no offense arsh but I agree wit the guys... Till ALL the Hindi film studios start making GOOD DVDs they can start as many companies and name them whatever they want, it won't matter. First they should concentrate on gettin up to at least average Hollywood-quality on every disc.

But I appreciate all the news stories you post ;)

There are Film DVDs and there are Video DVDs.

Example of Film DVDs are all (most) Hollywood DVDs and DEI (most) DVDs. DVDs made from film.

Video DVDs are the ones where a Video is transferred on to DVD. (Most Indian DVDs are Video DVDs). Video, that itself may be a 10th PAL-NTSC-PAL---- series of conversions and a 10th generation copy. Given a 10th generation-conversion video copy, even a perfect DVD of this video can't be any better than the video that was used to make this DVD. DVD transfer in itself may very well be perfect; exact carbon (digital) copy of original (garbage).

Unless DVD makers and us consumers know the difference between Video DVD and a Film DVD, we won't get quality Film DVDs. Sure we will get perfect 10th generation Video DVDs.

(DVD rot is another issue)

It says that YRF will have their own DVD/VCD pressing plants. Vertical integration of the process of making crappy DVDs :baaa:

Are YRF's CDs higher priced than most others? The music from their films is not worth much. Too much Jatin-Lalit junk for me :D

YRF DVD's claim to fame was that they don't rot. Well, I just came across their Pati Patni Aur Woh, perhaps one of the first DVDs that YRF got made by Prasad. It's Dual Layer on silverish media (20% Goldish).

It has rotted.

Let's see how long other YRF DVDs, made subsequent to their Prasad move, last.

The first movie to be done by the new DVD company of Yash Raj is the HUM Tum VCD for the Indian market. Looks like the DHOOM DVD will be the first big release for the new DVD company being launched by Yash Raj Films.
