Did anybody see that Tamil movie called Autograph ?

Image

Some people told me it was excellent. I can't find any screenshots of the DVD (by Ayngaran) ?

AUTOGRAPH is an excellent movie. The story, acting and the songs are very good.

The DVD looks good. I mean PQ. The cover art looks awful on the other hand.

I think Ayngaran is going backwards on cover art. They make their titles look like cheap romantic films with their gawdy colors.
We should start a separate topic for this and I suggest someone if not all create our own dvd covers and propose them to Ayngaran (Sunny could give us a hand here) for future films and to the Zulm community for the old films.

Anyways, Autograph is an Excellent Film. One among my top five Tamil films this year (Virumaandi and Aayitha Eluthu are somewhere in the top five as well. There are only two places left to get my top five, Gilli????). I guess this one should be part of a decent dvd library and if you are lucky enough to understand Tamil, then you should definitely have this one.
Try a blind buy and you will be surprised, nicely!!

Unfortunatly I don't understand Tamil.. need subtitles.

Is it the kind of movie that you cannot really understand by reading the subtitles ?
I know a lot of films that can be appreciate only if you speak the language. Is Autograph one of those ? (hope not...)

Fred
I feel this film is understandable with subtitles as there is no real comedy in the sense of language (as that is the very difficult part in a film to translate through subs).
The film is more emotional/memeories related and subs are adequate enough for a good comprehension.

fred, the AUTOGRAPH dvd has subtitles man...

ALL tamil dvds have subs these days, especially the ones made by AYNGARAN. The other major brands releasing Tamil dvds like Tamilini are also switching to Eng subs, Anamorphic transfer and DD/DTS soundtracks, but these features are pretty much standard on all new Ayngaran dvds.

I liked Autograph a lot. Very different from the usual fare. Zulmi.com has a few screenshots. Also, do a search for "autograph," as there were one or two other threads about this film, including a possible Hindi remake.

'Autograph' for Montreal film festival
By Moviebuzz
Tuesday, 27 July , 2004, 10:23

Cheran’s Autograph has been selected for the prestigious Montreal film festival in Canada. It is the only Tamil entry from India and it is surely a feather in the cap of its actor- producer-director Cheran.

The 28th Montreal’s World Film Festival starts on August 26 with veteran French director Claude Zidi heading this year's eight-member jury.

Said Cheran: “It is good news especially when I am going through difficult times. Autograph is a film that I made with great passion and it was straight from my heart. It is a great honour to take part in the Montreal film festival”.
