I have a progressive scan DVD player and noticed that 99% of hindi DVD's(even the latest ones) do not have the progressive flag set on them. Anyone else notice this?

Absolutely!

Those titles authored by DEI will have be from progressive masters hence the sharpness and look is better than anything you get from the rest. Some of the YRF titles are from progressive masters too, while one or two titles from Video Sound are too like BMCM

Sadly the people in charge at the moment don’t value Indian films they release on DVD so get them mastered from secondary video sources.

All titles, roughly 130 from DEI are progressive. There were another 300 or so DEI-EROS titles authored by DEI that were progressive (but, all are cropped to 1.85:1). You may be able to get them. I don't know if they are sold legally or illegally but they are superior to the current EROS-B4U versions. In many screen shot comparisons on the zulm.net, it can be seen that 1.85:1 non-anamorphic progressive DVDs are better than anamorphic interlaced DVDs.

EVP titles are progressive as well (aprox 20). EVP too is out of business as far as Hindi titles are concerned. Luckily, EVP titles have been bought by DEI and will be coming out in the near future.
