
Highlights of the Imagine Asia and the Asian Women's film festival at the National Film Theatre in London include:
An extended run of "Mother India" from Friday 3 May until Thursday 16th May. The classic film will be shown 21 times over that period of time in NFT3.
26 April 8.30 "A Quiet Desperation" (UK) 2000 Directed by Shakila Taranum Mann - filmed in London.
27 April 5.40 "Daughters of the Century" 2001 Directed by Tapan Sinha and starring Nandita Das and Jaya Bacchan - 5 short stories about female oppression (Jaya plays an untouchable in one of the stories)
1 May 8.20 "Bend It Like Beckham" (UK) + q/a with cast and crew
4 May 6.00 "Babu" (Pakistan) Zeba Bakhitar directs and stars (alongside Saud Amin and Lehri). Urdu with English subtitles.
There is also a Mira Nair season including "Salaam Bombay" and "Mississippi Masala"

April - New Book "BFI World Directors Yash Chopra" by Rachel Dwyer (RRP £14)

July /August 2 month retrospective of Satyajit Ray's films
Much to look forward to especially for me the opportunity to see the great "Mother India" at the cinema!!
