Talking of Bengali DVDs, just got the Utsab DVD, and it is one of the most disappointing DVDs I have ever seen. The picture is blurred, no sharpness whatsoever, with burnt-in English subtitles. I thought that the DVD would be better quality than the VCDs from India, but it looks like I was wrong!!

As for the link you have posted - have you noticed how both of them are the 1st ever Bengali DVD???

Bhaskar I was actually very tempted to buy the KOLONKINI - KONKABOTI dvd, (as I am getting the audio cd of that film...some great songs by RD Burman!)... However I hesitated looking at the pathetic cover of the DVD I instead invested my money in a 3 CD set of Debabrata Biswas (Rare Unpublished Rabindra Sangeet from themahal.com !)

But if someday , just for the heck of it, I will probably buy that DVD and see whats the state of affairs. My hunch that is a 100% pirated DVd as I am not aware of any LEGITIMATE company which has these film rights.

Are you sure these DVDs aren't legit? Biswas' logo is on the covers, and they are a legitimate Bengali music label. Did the people who made the DVD just take the Biswas logo?

Biswas Logo on the DVDs..I thought Biswas only made audio CDs ?

As far as I know, Angel Video in Kolkata have the rights to this movie, cos I have a copy on VHS. Angel have started releasing VCDs as well, so I doubt they would give DVD rights to someone else.
