Use something like ANYDVD software to use any dvd region discs in your drive. Should work even if the actual drive is locked

The film was shot in Super 35, so these transfers are not cropped on the sides, but the image is opened up a little from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1. The shots I cropped in Photoshop looked better at 2.35:1, but some shots were probably adjusted to look better at 16:9. Even if you are seeing more, it still isn't the original aspect ratio. IMO, if you must have this, wait to see if the US disc will be OAR.

yeh ur right dragun...a bit like the sholay dvds...
it got me thinking...so i did some comparative shots with the theatrical trailer included...
i dont mind this dvd now...it is anamorphic...
and my sound system reads 2 channel..i dont know whats going on there..it is pretty good..my system picks up Dil Se as 2 channel aswell..and that is the original platinum DEi one...

Wow. Its finally here. Have been waiting for kaante for a long time. Anyways the picture looks excellent. Looks like they didn't crop it from the sides, just stretched it a little bit to fit 16x9 tvs (for no black bars).

well I hope we get OAR for Region 1...(and maybe proper 5.1 DD if its not too much to ask for)

This transfer's colors look very similar to what I saw at the theater. It may be open matte but still you'll be missing some picture in some scenes. OAR 2.35 is the way to go! I will wait.

The transfer is a combination of opening the matte and stretching the image. I've never seen a transfer like this.

It doesn't look like the matte has been opened up. It's just been stretched vertically to fit a 1:1.78 image.

email i got from madman

Thanks for your comments regarding our Kaante DVD – we are proud of this DVD and we look forward to bringing many other ‘Bollywood’ titles to the Australian public over the coming months.

Unfortunately with the Kaante release we do not have access to any ‘extras’ for the DVD – it is a shame, as generally we at Madman like to offer the audience as clear an insight as possible into the film and its makers. However we will have many great extras on upcoming titles.

Again, thank you for your comments and keep an eye out for new Indian releases over the next few months.

Regards,
