Replicated discs are everywhere. Buy it directly from Shemaroo or contact Sanjay (member zulm forums) who runs a DVD shop in New Delhi.

1978 Film CC is 4702 meters or 171 min 24 sec.

Shemaroo DVD that I bought early 2000s and also the Esquire VHS (early 1980s) are 169 min. (both are Film to NTSC, so, no 4% spped up)

When I saw SSS in theatre in 1978-79, was told that as the movie was not received well, some boring footage, mostly flooding waters, was chopped off from the theatrical prints. So, the Shemaroo's early DVD must be as complete as director intended version.

Not sure if the present Shemaroo version still is direct Film to NTSC ?? I recall someone saying that present Shemaroo SSS DVD batches are Film to PAL to NTSC converted, field averaged ?? (Same with RTGM ??)

Sanjay: As I noted in earlier post above, correctly or in-correctly I mentioned that you were running DVD store back then ?? Is it true ?? If true, are you still running the store ?? If yes, you could be a big help in acquiring some PEN DVDs for me ?? Thanks.

With regards to Aah - there are actually two versions of the film. One has a sad ending and a couple of scenes shot in colur and one has a happy ending and is black and white throughout. YRFs version is the happry ending and there are no scenes in colur - so if the Shemaroo DVD contains the other version of the film then it's a must have for me! The ending of that version is very good.[/color]

Now this is fascinating! The YouTube version by Shemaroo has the entire movie in black and white, and the ending seems to be a happy one. I watched it ages ago and as far as my memory knows, I think Nargis and Raj Kapoor were sitting in a garden and watching a group of ladies dance. (will skim through this again and confirm.). Has the second version of the ending been released anywhere? It'd be great to see it.
How is the movie anyway? I was never really interested in watching this until I read about the film having an alternate ending. The songs Aaja Re Ab Mera Dil Pukara, Yeh Shaam Ki Tanhaiyan and Jane Na Nazareth are gems, for sure. Is the movie worth watching?
