The company who made the DVD, http://www.films-sans-frontieres.com, lists in their catalogue many other Indian titles, among them a bunch of Satyajit Ray films, a Guru Dutt film, a Ritwik Ghatak film, and Pakeezah! Maybe they'll release DVDs of these as well someday. I wish I had a region-free player and unlimited funds ???

Facets Video is a distributor of independant and foreign movies, and they have 5 Bimal Roy movies (Bandini, Devdas, Do Bheega Zameen, Madhumati and Sujata) on DVD, at their online site. I was pretty excited, till I found they all include the Kumb Mela documentary as extras. I'm thinking these might just be the YRF disks after all.

Did visit Facets video store in Chicago. Most of their Desi DVD's are from YRF,DEI etc. Most of thier titles are out of stock due to lack of demand and high prices. if you order a DVD which is out of stock they will get it for you. Most of their business comes from rental/selling of non-desi art movies.
On a regular basis they also show artsy movies in their auditorium.

So if anyone is planning to place online orders from them beware their collection of desi DVD's is the same which is available at IWeekly and other Desi online stores.

I have done my good deed for the day.
