One movie that I can't wait for on DVD is Betaab (1983). There's nothing really special about it but it does have this rawness that is appealing. Sunny's debut film, Betaab was directed by Rahul Rawail and also launched Amrita Singh's career. It was produced by Dharmendra and had some brilliant songs. Most famous star son debuts are romantic flicks and even though Sunny is known today as an action star, Betaab had him in a romantic role. Of course there was some action also. It was a hit. My only concern is that EROS will get the rights or have the rights and will come out with it. Since Dillagi (1999), another Vijayta films (Dharmendra's company) product and Barsaat (1995;Bobby's debut) have been both released by EROS I'm thinking they have a deal with Vijayta films. At the same time another Vijayta films product, Ghayal (1990) was released by Videosound and PEI so who knows.

Ideally I would like BEI to release Betaab BUT Betaab isn't exactly a really old film like some under the "Eternal Classics" label of DEI/BEI. 2003 marks 20 years for Sunny in the film industry and Betaab. It would be nice if it released this year.

Other DVDs that are still missing in action (classics because of one reason or another) are Mahaan (a must for any AB fan which has Amitabh in a TRIPLE role), Yaarana (another AB fan like myself favorite) and J.P.Dutta's Ghulami starring Dharmendra. I have seen Yaarana on the Shemaroo label but don't know how good it is. I thought Parvarish by DEI was the beginning of successive old releases by them but they seem to have gone into hibernation again even though Mahaan and Yaarana were on their slate a while ago; at least someone on this forum said so.

Another DVD I have given up on (might as well mention it) is Kaante. The movie released in December last year and it would be nice to have (I can't believe I'm saying this) even Eros release it. I mean anything would be better than the current version which I hear as advertisements crop up all the time. Even if Eros butcher this one, at least the hope of a decent DVD of Kaante will die. Its always at the back of my mind that someone will release a decent DVD print of this since it is a fairly new release.

I would like to see Satyajit Ray's only hindi/english film on DVD as well as Amitabh Bachchan's first ever film "Saath Hindustani".

Saw Betaab DVD on Apollo label few days ago in a music shop in Bradford - most propably a VHS to DVD transfer - price was £22.99 :oo: :sus: :ffs:

22.99 pounds, thats like over 46 Canadian dollars for ONE DVD and a crappy one to boot. GOD, I feel sorry for the poor sucker who actually falls for that and gets it :stupid:

You might as well just get the VHS copy for a couple of pounds or 5 bucks Canadian if you like the movie that much. Not that I don't like the movie but I'll wait for a good DVD release
