The book is one of my favourites - Moshin Hamid is an excellent writer ...

I've been waiting for this to come out for some time now. The soundtrack is amazing - check out the 'Daira' web-site for more info: http://www.daira.info/

Another thing - check-out this for a version of the Daira DVd for $3!!! Maybe it's a mistake - has anyone ever ordered anything from this site?

i got the DVD thru the post.. if i can be bothered, i`ll post screen shots later.. but believe me this discs isnt too clever.. i actually doubt i`ll be able to watch it its that bad... there is just too much motion artifacts.. its as thought 5 or 6 frames have been removed inbetween each frame leaving this horrible effect giving u a head ache!! english and urdu subs have been burnt in (when urdu dialogue - english subs and vice versa)... but the movie/drama does look very very promising.. and does tackles many issues which have been taboo in pakistan... a pity really cos it does deserve a decent DVD!!

Would be great if you could post screen shots. Maybe there is another version of the DVD available? Is your version on 3 discs or is it only one disc?

i very much doubt u`ll get another version of the disc.... here are the screenshots!! Muz i got the one disc version.. i think the 3 disc version will probably be VCD.. its only 181 minutes long!!

Thanks for the screenshots Faddy.

I want to see this - but if the DVD is bad then I'll pick up a VCD copy if it next time I'm in London.

I reckon it'll be worth a watch ... it's just a shame that after spending a lot of money on the soundtrack and various promotional items that they messed up the DVD. :(

... but then again I guess it's the same old story ...

i watched the movie last night... it really is an excellent movie... i wud really recommend this to anyone.. i can actually see why it was censored heavily in pakistan.. it promotes drink driving, women smoking hash, cocaine abuse etc... but it is very good!! as for the quality of the disc, its not too good... the thing about the missing frames, i think has something to do with the way the director wanted the movie to loook... i`d recommend it anyway!
