Just recently purchased the GONY DVD and when I played it on my DVD player, I find out that the whole movie is divided into two seperate dics. This is bullshit, this isn't a DVD, its more like a VCD.

The movie is pretty long. Better to have it on 2 discs than to have a poor quality image on 1 disc.

GONY is only 166 minutes. They could have kept all of its supplements on the extra DVD. All Godfather Parts were longer in duration except Part 2--which was even longer (200 mintues), and its divided into 2 DVD dics, which is understandable. I'm sure GONY could have been a good DVD even with the entire features stuck into one disc.

I think GONY also had DTS, DD 5.1 and a long movie. Best to split it for optimal quality.

There's a commentary too. I don't know if any video supplements are on the first disc.

Compression also depends on how much activity there is in the film. A lot of quick cutting or fast action will require higher bitrates.

Is that all. I thought for a minute that Eros or Videosound had got the DVD authored to their usual high standards.

Well, it has gotten panned on all the DVD review sites as well because of its average picture quality. The splitting across two discs is pointless because it uses only 1 layer of each disc and has the extras on the other layer. I would much rather have them use both layers for the feature and put the extras on the other disc.

Now let's not compare this to Indian DVD's because then everything is a masterpiece.

Forget about GANGS, GO WATCH" PIRATES OF CARIBEAN"

My only complaint..movie should have been SHORTER by 30 minutes, a BIT FASTER, and a lot more DYNAMIC sound effects..I hope, this 3rd part will be compensated in DVD, if Disney gives us a DTS, transfer, with more dynamic remix for dvd sake!!
