Video: The image is presented as 1.33:1, but should be matted to 1.85:1. In one scene, Kris is in the shower, but we can see that he's wearing swimming trunks, ruining the illusion.
For a pirate, the quality isn't too bad. It's better than many Eros discs, for sure. Obviously taken from a cinema print, there are quite a few specks and nicks on the print. Contrast is a bit too high, and detail in the dark areas is poor, particularly in the dark dance hall scenes. Colors are okay, though not particularly great. I saw quite a bit of shimmering.
Being only an hour and a half long, there wasn't as much artifacting as I would have expected, but there is some blocking and pixellation in rapid movement and in the backgrounds. Not distracting though. A few tape glitches could be seen.
Audio: The audio, as far as I could tell, is mono, but encoded as Dolby Surround according to my player. Dialogue is always intelligible and the music sounds fine. Not spectacular, but acceptable.
Menu: The menu, displaying the title as "American Desi Dolls," has Play Movie and Chapters features, though there were only about 6 chapters.
Overall: This disc, as much as I hate to say it, is probably better than what Eros will release. As some poster here has as their sig (Sanjay?) "Eros and Video Sound are the biggest promoters of piracy."
