Now only if it is progressive... wow then we DO have an alternative to DEI here then ...considering that this title was supposed to have been authored by DEI

So IW have produced this disc themselves? Interesting...There's always hope that this is DEI resurrected.

Any idea what this "Short Movie Option" is?

As far as I remember, Angoor wasn't made in widescreen, so I doubt the disc is anamorphic.

Maybe the short movie option is just the movie, skipping the songs?

This movie I think came out in 1980 or 1981. I am pretty sure it was shot in 1.33, so the issue of anamorphic won't come up, as cinemascope and 70mm was still reserved for the biggest movies at that time. Angoor is a must buy for me, I remember watching it in Lucknow while visiting there back in the early 80s.

Btw... the cover of the dvd shows the following scenes :-

1.) Hothon pe beeti baat aayi hai (Moushami & Sanjeev Kumar)

2.) Deven Verma putting his ear near the door when the other deven verma is uttering "Prema o Prema"..from outside the door. The Deven Verman inside then starts "Woof Woof Woof" ( like a dog)...

BTW looking at the cover artwork the picture looks very decent... any bets on how the PQ will be ?

Hi Friends,

My name is Kshitij, and I have lurked off and on, on Zulm. I love this site - great work Ali and others!

You might remember me, I have posted on this forum before as "KKBHAI" as well.

I am the person who personally did most of the technical work in bringing this DVD title out.

I decided to post a reply to these comments so that it would give you Indian movie afficionados a chance to ask your questions, give your comments, and to advise us as to what we can do better in our future titles.

Please do post your questions or comments here and I will try to reply as soon as I can. I am traveling more than I wish to, so sometimes it may take a little longer to reply - apologies in advance if that happens.

Regarding Angoor - Yes, the movie is not shot in widescreen. Therefore, we could not produce an anamorphic DVD this time around. With our future titles, we will produce anamorphic DVDs when the movie is shot in widescreen.

We introduce a new feature in this DVD - the "short movie" version. This feature has never been implemented before, as far as I know.

The feature allows a user to view the movie in a little more than half the running time. The advantage of using this mode is that the scenes skipped are chosen "intelligently" by yours truly. :D

This option skips all songs, as well as some other - not so important (from the story point of view) and not too funny -scenes.

The feature can be turned on from the main menu, and can also be turned off at any time, and the rest of the movie will play as normal.

We have taken great pains to obtain a good original print from India, and also to use the highest quality transfering equipment to capture and encode the Video. Please forgive me since I cannot give details of the equipment used, for competitive reasons.

We also spent a lot of effort in doing the Authoring of the DVD. Please feel free to send me feedback!

You can reach me at kshitij@canadaflix.com as well.

Thank you very much,

Kshitij Kumar.
