Aishwarya could be the next Bond girl

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, APRIL 04, 2003 02:31:38 AM ]

MUMBAI: If all goes well, Aishwarya Rai may well be the first Indian actress to be a Bond girl. She would join the list of famous beauties who've starred in James Bond movies, including Ursula Andress and Halle Berry.

Her secretary Hari Singh confirming news of the "unbelievably grand project," he says, "Yes, for Aishwarya, it's something unbelievable. An international coordinating agency has approached us on behalf of the studio making the Bond movies."

Singh says that the people who came down to meet Aishwarya were supposed to sit with them and hammer out the details of the deal after the shooting for Khakhi ended. But her accident during the shoot near Nashik has led to the postponement of this discussion.

"They were waiting with me on the sets and watching the rehearsals, with Aishwarya, Amitabh Bachchan and others," says Singh.

As of now, Singh says, the agency people have gone off to Shirdi, to see the famous pilgrimage spot as well as to pray for Aishwarya's speedy recovery.

"They are keen to cast her. Let's see what Aishwarya has to say. We'd have to rework our earlier schedules," says Singh.

Actually this one was inadvertently let on by Gurinder Chaddha in an interview, when talking about Bride and Prejudice....she had mentioned Aishwarya as a possible candidate as a Bond girl......does anyone recollect reading that interview?

Though i doubt it will work out....at least not with Aishwarya already making it clear she was not one for wearing 'revealing' clothes (sic).....catch Bollywood heroines being prude...man when will these gals evolve in their own heads....

Guys.... you dont understand.. If Ash had "anything" to reveal then she would have jumped on this bandwagon ! Afterall who doesnt wanna be a BOND girl !... She is afraid that all her "fans" (read leecherous DESI's) will be in shock that all she has is PIMPLES and not what-you-would-have-expected ! :D

Please spare us the ignomy.. of having to tolerate Ash as a BoNd Girl...and having to compare her with all those memorable BOND gals :)

Hmmmm at the end, sitting on a train and playing a "murli"... That is not a sadhu... but a Black Vodoo priest... I think you are talking abt the end credits of Live & Let Die..... As far as my knowledge goes, there were no Indian gals in that film....

only Jane Seymour !

Okay I dont think I have heard that name anywhere.

Roger Moore films :-

Live & Let Die - Jane Seymour
The Man with the golden gun - Britt Eckland & Maud Adams
The spy who loved me - Barbara Bach
Moonraker - Lois C.... ( i forget her last name)
For Your Eyes only - a french woman
Octopussy - Maud Adams & Kristina Wayborn ...and I could only see an Indian woman as an extra (of cos.. there were Indian men in that film)
&
A View to a Kill (Tanya Roberts & Grace Jones) ..

Now you take ur pick and tell me which of these films u talking abt !

I don't remember any previous Indian girls in James Bond apart from the extras in Octopussy, which was partially filmed in India.

There was a girl who looked very much like an Indian who was in Die Another Day for once scene. She was playing the nurse at a London Hopsital where she had to resasitate Bond, then he wakes up and escapes after saying "thanks for the kiss of life".

Although the nurse looked Indian, I don't think she is as her name is Cristina Contes...I don't know if that is a goan name. She was born is Switzerland.

As for Persis Khambatta, she was Indian and Parsee and made a german kamasutra film back in the days. Unfortunately, she died in '98 of a heart attack.

As for Aish Rai in a Bond film, she doesn't have to wear little clothing, or kiss, or have sex with Bond, as Michelle Yeoh was a Bond girl who didn't do any of these. So I don't think she'll have to but because she was Miss World the director may try to get her to.

Anyway, didn't she kiss chandrachur singh and akshaye khanna in films already?
