I havent been on these forums for some time but it doesnt look like I have missed much. Its almost 4 months into the new year and still not a decent movie so far from Bollywood. Kaante was probably the last good movie and after that there have been so many flops. Why is this? I seriously fear that indian cinema will soon become a shambles.

I think it has something to do with all these young actors and directors who are basically sh*t. They need to learn and learn fast. Bollywood has some quality names like Amitabh, Shah-rukh, Aamir, Salmaan, Sanjay etc. I know they have some good projects on the way and cant wait to see them.

Anyway its spring, I am back and the good movies look like they are on their way, Sunny Deol is opening the batting with Jaal and The Hero. Lets hope they are a success.

BTW I have now chucked all of my videosound discs away and now have real coasters. I have also taken a vow never to buy VS again, not even if they give their discs away :ffs:

The little time that I have now, I spend more on checking mail and catching up on my sleep than wasting on Hindi movies and bad dvds...I have even boycotted Indian dvds.

*** Poor ali ikram, family ke saath nou do gayara hoga!!

Good cinema.... where art thou?

Has anyone else noticed that it´s been a dreadful year so far for Indian movies? And I am not talking about box office. I don´t care if Indian films flop with the average viewer, so long as I´m enjoying them. (Let´s debate the merits of such illogic some other day.)

I didn´t think it could get worse than 2002, but the first three months of 2003 have been miserable. And I´ve consumed enough cinematic garbage of late to make it start coming out of my ears. Bas Yun Hi, Freaky Chakra, Escape from Manisha (that´s what the film ought to have been titled to reflect the plight of viewers), Jism, Khushi, Dhund, etc. The bags of trash just keep piling on. And on!

Satta was the only half decent flick, but on hind-sight, it´s not really good either. Sooooo much sermonizing it jarred. Two minutes... Raveena speech... two minutes ... Raveena speech... one minute... Raveena speech. It just wouldn´t end, damn it. Only the ladies appear to have enjoyed it.

It´s no wonder no one´s excited about Bollywood right now. Though I must add that I´m very pumped about "Bhoot" and "Armaan" releasing soon. One is directed by my favourite Indian film-maker (Ramgopal Varma), and the other is helmed by the writer of my favourite Indian romance ever ("Lamhe").

And I´m kind of anxious about watching a hopefully entertaining "Ek Aur Ek Gyarah" with family this weekend, so that we can get out of the real world doldrums for a few hours. Let´s see if it can lift our spirits.

I was looking at the release schedule on IndiaFM and could only find a couple of movies that would interest me;

Supari - looks somewhat interesting from the promos

Boom – looking forward to this

.. err that’s it! :nervous:

..mild, sleeper, can’t be bothered too much about type of interest in Bhoot, Armaan, Deewaar, LOC, Sandhya :O

Ali :baaa:

I think there are a lots of movies to look forward to.

Stumped; Already a court case controversy. Low cost. Therefore a guaranteed hit.

The Hero; Obviously.

Andaaz; Watch out.

Chura Liya Hai Tumne; Already released. Will pick up.

Praan Jaaye Par Shaan Na Jaayee.

And a few others, can't recall the names.

Rana

Just went thru the forthcoming films list at India FM and could find only the following films that I would consider going to the theaters to see. In other words these are the only films in the list that seem to have some potential to offer something different.

In order of expected release date:
1) Sandhya
2) Bhoot (Just maybe, this is not a genre I really care for)
3) 3 Deewarien
4) Boom
5) 88 Antop Hill

Actually this is not that bad, atleast there are five films to look forward to over the next few months, considering that there was probably only two decent films in the last 6 odd months this is a lot.

depends - are there movies that you'd wasnt to watch? - obv stuff like the hero, bhoot(maybe), LOC, MPKDH, KMG....

but realistically - i can't forsee any hits among them - perhaps LOC...but even that's not a sure-shot ...

btw rana - stumped won't even release on that date, let alone be a hit - there have been no buyers for the flick.....

Actors are not the only ones to blame. Film is a director's medium, and all these hacks signing up for multiple projects at once, when they can't make a good movie even if that's all they were working, is just a ridiculoous trend. Now we're moving toward showing more and more skin courtesy of the models who grace movies nowadays, as that's the only way they'll get the guys into the theatres.
It's too sad story doesn't matter to these folks... just take a look at some of the magic created in the '50->80's... there's NOTHING right now but uber-patriotic, or Yash Raj-branded, or Hollywood-Xeroxed, or T&A "international", films coming out...
THe worst part is, that these are the people who get to waste the talents of AB... I just hope Farhan Akhtar does well with him, coz he's probably our last hope right now.

Well said. But its also time that a genius like Gulzar directs another film.
