Here is one film that has really evoked my curiosity.
Title of the film: 'BAKRA'
Tag line: Lambs to the slaughter.
Promotional line: 'Only the insane will survive.

You must really check out the cool trailers at http://www.indiafm.com/
I sincerely hope this film finds buyers and a decent release, personally I think it's got a lot of potential. One thing is for sure this film is most certainly not the product of the idiots from Bollywood.

Thanks for the link Sanjay....I now remember someone from FTII who was Umesh Padalkar's(dir. of BAKRA) junior telling how original this guy is in his thinking. As an instance his diploma film was called 'front page romance' (or something to that effect) and it was the journey of characters from the first page of a newspaper headline to the last page (sports page) where they meet. In between apparently they encounter ads (as they appear in newspapers) and was supposedly a terrific and heady experience....so do look forward to this film...certainly promises to be 'hatke' (groan...not that filmi cliche again!)....

You are more than welcome. Such films and film makers need all the help and encouragement we can give them.

Isn't "lambs to the slaughter" used to describe people that are easily fooled into something? Like if I easily duped a bunch of people into paying me $300 for a coffee mug, I would have fooled them into paying that much just as I would have led some lambs to be slaughtered.

Kudos on the Boondocks quote, Musafir, although the strip is getting kinda stale IMO.

Well, I'm not sure, but I heard something that muslims celebrate a BAKRA-EID where they sacrifice a Lamb (or many lambs). Maybe it's got it's inspiration from that?

thanx for clearing that up...

really? you think it's getting stale? i must say, it's not what it was a year ago, but it's still the first comic i read when i hit the comics section [doonesbury may precede it occasionally]...his golden years were around 97-98 at univ. of maryland (go terps!) when it was raw and "contraversial" [not saying that it has lost that aspect]. i had actually met aaron mcgruder through a friend of mine back then, we had an interesting conversation about true hip hop. anyways, loved his post-9-11 strips, and his recent ones.

bakra looks...interesting...

Definitely a film to watch out for. And I think it definitely isn't from Bollywood. I noticed originality, quality, location/sync sound and a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

Musafir, all Boondocks is today is just making fun of the government and making fun of black people like Michael Jackson and R. Kelly who do stupid things. Not that I'm averse to making fun of the government, but they do it all the time. There's no variety. I thought Flagee and Ribbon was hilarous, though.
