I just listened to the last four audio releases. Here are my quick thoughts.

Armaan - What a letdown. So much was expected from this soundtrack, and granted, the instrumental pieces are pretty good. The songs though are disappointing. Shankar Ehsan Loy went with a 'soft' soundtrack. Track 1, Maine Dil Ka Tumse De Na is the best one, but it sounds like the Rahman track, Main Albeli from Zubeida. I guess the well ran dry for SEL with the pressures of working on several albums at once.

Nayee Padosan - This album came out about a week and a half before Armaan. It's a smaller movie with newcomers. Nothing really new from SEL in this album. I think ever since Dil Chahta Hai, producers are requesting one 'trance' track from SEL, and it's here with track 3, Chori Nahin Kee...a catchy enough track. Track 6, Ek Bechanie, reminds me of Ooh Yeh from Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai. Track 1 is probably the best track, Sari Sari Rehna. I do notice more of a Rahman influence in some of the tracks in this album, and track 1 in Armaan too. All in all, what was expected from a smaller film, an average album.

Supari - The last movie I can recall Vishal Shekhar working on was Vadh, which was nothing to write home about. They return in the gritty crime drama Supari. What's with albums only having one solid song? Track one of Supari, Tere Ishq Mein, is BY FAR the best song, the other five are fillers. This CD includes 4 bonus tracks from other movies.

Bhoot - RamGopal Verma enlists the help of four music directors in this album. It's a mix of songs of instrumental pieces. Tracks 1 and 8, Bhoot Hoon Main are composed by Salim Suleiman. The two versions differ in that track 8 uses more hard bass techno elements. A pretty catchy track, very much in the RGV mold. Track 2 has Anand Raaj Anand making his appearance on the album with Yeh Sard. Another solid track, very spooky and appropriate for this movie. This track could have been on the Sandhya album if I didn't know it was on Bhoot. Amar Mohile and Bapi-Tutil work on the album too, but Salim Suleiman do the bulk of the work. If one word could describe this album, I would call it 'effective' given the type of movie Bhoot is supposed to be.

Best of the bunch - Bhoot
