If I am not mistaken, this DVD of the film is not sped up. I have seen a lot of rips of the songs of this film, and they seem to run at film speed.
Could this indicate that this was a pseudo-progressive DVD?
The film has melodious songs. Typical of Salil Chowdhury compositions, all the songs have interludes and/or intros with the sound of the flute. Tasveer Teri Dil Mein, Ja Re Ud Ja Re Panchhi, Phir Ek Baar Kaho; are examples of this kind of compositions.
The most popular song from the film is "Koi Sone Ke Dil Wala" by Rafi. To me, the most soulful numbers have to be the songs rendered by Dwijen Mukhopadhyay and Lata Mangeshkar; Aye Dil Kahan Teri Manzil. Two solo versions comprise of voices of the respective singers. Salil Chowdhury used to harmonize his tunes like no one else!
The film, I have not seen. As far as I know, the story is the same is much more celebrated film "Asli Naqli". Both these films star Dev Anand, and both of them have great tunes. I prefer the songs of Maya, although the others like Asli Naqli better.
