Wondering if anyone can help out by listing Mani Ratnam movies available on DVD, and a list that currently are not. All Pyramid releases DO classify! All languages as well.

So far, I've managed to work it down to :

Iruvar (Pyramid)
Idhayathe Thirudathey (Pyramid)
Bombay (AYngaran, Tamil /DEI, Hindi )
Roja (DEI, Hindi / Pyramid, Tamil)
Thiruda Thiruda (AYngaran, Tamil)

I don't know if Pyramid has released the Tamil version of Anjali, but there is a Telugu dubbed version from KAD.

Dil Se (Eros) Uyire (Ayngaran)
Mouna Ragam (Pyramid) [This is an MR film ,right?]
Nayagan (Pyramid)

Don't know about Dalapati or Agni Nakshatram.

Please note that Dil Se is also released on EROS/DEI (not just Eros alone) Just to clarify:)

I was wondering if there are any people who have a knowledge of some classic Tamil movies on this forum. IN particular I was looking for the following films on DVD such as :

16 Vayidhinile (Kamal Hassan, Sridevi)
Varusham 16 (Karthik, Khushboo)
Sindhu Bhairavi (Suhasini Maniratnam)
Varumayin Niram Sivappu (Kamal, Sridevi)
Agni Natchatiram

Pyramid released Sindhu Bhairavi and I think 16 Vayathinile, and Dredd said Kavitha released Agni Natchatiram.

I think all new Pyramid DVDs come with a catalog insert. Moondram Pirai had one, and it probably had all their DVDs on it, divided into collections. Songs collection, K. Balachandar collection, Mani Ratnam collection, Sivaji collection, etc.

Did Sindhu Bhairavi have the same plot as Abhimaan? I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember something about Sivakumar and Suhasini both being singers and Sivakumar becoming an alcoholic or something like that.

I think this movie showed how man's need for creative filling is different from his regular day-to-day needs.....pretty retrogressive in terms of current times but it may have gelled with audiences then(10 years ago maybe?).....you are right Suhasini and Sivakumar were singers and then he has an affair with Suhasini, who is either his student or fan or some such, whereas his wife who's great at all household chores is unable to beget him an heir (sic).....and so on......i saw it on DD without understanding most stuff (no subtitles) except this simple drift.....maybe it was a good movie, though I didnt quite agree with the premise behind it.......wasn't it directed by K.Balachander, who also posed that confounding question in APOORVA RAAGANGAL (remade into Hindi as EK NAI PAHELI)....

Aarkayne, thanks for that plot summary. I obviously forgot most of the film. SB was by K. Balachandar, as was Apoorva Ragangal, which I have not seen. Maybe we need to start a K. Balachandar DVD thread :)

Back to the topic of this thread, KAD released some Ratnam films dubbed in Telugu. I know of Bombay, Roja, and Anjali, and they released Geetanjali/Idhayathey Thirudathey (dual Telugu and Tamil tracks). EVP released Amrutha, which is Kannathil Muthamittal dubbed in Telugu. KAD or some other shoddy company also released their own version.

You're in luck. Pyramid has a fine DVD of 'Geetanjali' (Tamil version) on sale with 5.1 audio AND English subtitles!

Heres the link :

http://nehaflix.com/itthirtamdvd.html

They have some other AMAZING Tamil DVDs on sale though. Pity theyre all $16.99 and up though.........
