Shah Rukh will be back home by month-end

Mumbai,Sunday, March 09, 2003: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be flying back home by this month-end after undergoing a successful operation in London for his nagging back and neck pain.

The actor was operated last month at the Wellington Hospital for a ruptured disc in his spine and discharged within four days, film industry sources here said.
He is now recuperating in an apartment in central London, the sources said.
Shah Rukh, whose shooting schedule went haywire for last one year due to constant pain in the back and neck, will take it easy for the next three months before embarking on an outdoor schedule in US and Canada in July for Yash Johar's 'Kal Ho Na Ho', directed by Nikhil Advani.
A few days after arrival here Shah Rukh will dub for his home production 'Chalte Chalte', which is nearing completion.
'Chalte Chalte', directed by Aziz Mirza, will be Shah Rukh's first movie to be released this year, probably by June-end, the sources said.
Choreographer Farah Khan, who is directing 'Main Hoon Naa' for the actor's production concern, will be leaving for London next week to meet him, the sources added.

Karan Update: Johar Looks For A New Challenge
Somashukla Sinha Walunjkar

Karan Johar has never liked talking about himself. “I am not an ‘I me myself’ person at all,” he explains. Rather, he’s happy spending time with friends, reading books, partying hard and thinking of the big idea for his next film.

“It’s tough doing another film, I’ve talked about things I liked most – my college capers crystallised in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai while Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was an ode to my parents. Now that the family album is complete I frankly don’t have a clue about what I’m going to do next,” says Karan, in town to shoot for the last episode of the NDTV-produced Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (airing on Zee TV).

Karan hopes to start his new script sometime in April. For now, he’s producing Kal Ho Na Ho (starring Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali and Preity Zinta) directed by his erstwhile assistant Nikhil Advani. He’s loath to give away the story. “The film is treatment-oriented. It begins in downtown Manhattan, moves over to Toronto and probably climaxes in Mumbai. Nikhil is a very talented filmmaker,” he points out.

He has always loved being flamboyant with his films. And this time around too, the producer in Johar won’t cut costs. “You can’t compromise on a film’s look. When I went overboard with K3G, my dad (Yash Johar) sat back and indulged me. A new filmmaker needs to be encouraged. I’ve always loved to take risks because I’m a creative person not a businessman,” he says.

Somethings never change in Karan’s life. Like some lucky mascots who “always find their way into my film – people who are there for me at all points of my life”. And his ‘k’ fixation. “Ekta (Kapoor) and I trust Jumani. He’s the reason we’ve become successful,” he grins
