Dear Zulmis,
I am trying to get the DEI/EROS version of Khuda Gawah. I already have the EROS/B4U version. I was wondering if the quality of the EROS/B4U is the same as the DEI/EROs version for this movie. Its a little hard to tell, as the picture and fidelaty looks good on the EROS/B4U copy, but I would like to get the DEI/EROS version if there is a substantial difference.
IF someone has both copies or has seen the difference between the two, comments would be helpful.
Thanks
Haroon.

As DEI declared bankrupcy, there can't be any one protecting DEI's intellectual property. Quite possible that EROS could be using the superior DEI authorings. So, all DEI-EROS DVDs may be avail directly from EROS under solo EROS or EROS-B4U brand??

Can you confirm by counting # of steps in one sec.

Pause
Turn Time Counter 'ON'
Keep Stepping forward

If it's 24 steps in one sec, then it's same encoding as DEI. (Progressive)

If it's 30 steps in 1 sec, then it's a new authoring. (Interlaced)

Thanks.

Dear Zulmis,

Thank you all for your infos. I was quite sure that the Eros/B4U transfer was a replica of the DEI/EROS transfer.
actually the EROS/B4U version of ANDAAZ APNA APNA that I have seems like a DEI/EROS transfer too.

Coming back to Khuda Gawah, I wish DEI would re-release the movie with a 5.1 track, and some extras as you keep hearing so much that was happening behind the scenes during the making of this movie.

technogeek, is there a way that you post some screenshots of EROS/B4U version comparing it with the DEI/EROS version.
Thanks,
Haroon

I dont think, KHUDA GAWAH was ORIG in 5.1 in theatre(filmed)

DEI/EROS did only remastwer to 5.1 for MPK, that really turned out to be gOOD!! It was done by same company who did NBNW for MGM, and did cost a lot..so..result, NO MORE REMASTERED SOUNDS, FOOLS FIGURED OUT ART OF PSEUSDO 5.1..thats Why I said..

Only JAYAZ to CURSE EROS LULLA etc etc..

As per your analogy:

It's a Superman, i.e. PRGRESSIVE DVD, if it turns out to be needing 24 steps for 1 sec.

It's an infant, i.e. INTERLACED DVD, if it turns out to be needing 30 steps for 1 sec. Infant hasn't learned the art of 24 Steps or Progressive Film DVDs.

Dear zulmis,

So the conclusion is that EROS/B4U copy and The DEI/EROS copy of "Khuda Gawah" are the same. The source on the EROS/B4U copy is that of the DEI/EROS one.

What about the freezing test you guys were talking about, I dont know much about that.
Thanks,
Haroon

Turn Timer ON
Keep Stepping forward

Well, one method for checking if a DVD is Progressive or interlaced is checking for Combing when playing DVDs from Power DVD using 'Force Weave' option.

Another way, that works for Film to NTSC DVDs is by checking how many frames are there in one sec. For this, you need to view the time counter and step advance the frames one at a time. After pausing, just check how many times you have to press the 'STEP' button to advance to next second on time counter.

Progressive DVDs, like DEI/ BEI will take 24 steps to go through one sec.
Interlaced DVDs will take 30 steps to go through one sec.

Try it.

5.1 wasn't even around when KG was made. Some American company released it on video 6 years ago. Great transfer.

Could anyone check if the Khuda gawah taked 24 steps or 30 steps (the EROS/B4U one as compared to the 30 ) I'm guessing on the progressive (EROS/DEI one)
Thanks
