OK i know some people need subtitles because they dont understand hindi fully, just like me. I speak urdu, and hindi sounds exactly the same with some words different, so i can understand most of it. Anyway sometimes i need subtitles to watch a movie. But i got kaante on dvd, first of all its a crap picture and the worst part is it doesnt give u the option to remove the subtitles, its happened to me on a few other dvd's too, K3G and hathiyar, is there anyway of getting rid of these subtitles, I need help with it. Because sometimes u end up reading subtitles and miss whats going on in the movie.

I don't know why you can't turn the subs off on K3G and Hathyar, but any DVDs of Kaante you see until the official version is released will be made from a theatrical print with English subtitles. Only pirate DVDs of Kaante are available now.

most of the time your problem can be avoided by simply buying original dvds as it is pretty clear you have pirates.

Wow - I guess we can now be sure that DVD is now the Official Format in "High Places" ! :D

[PS I suppose this comment will make no sense in the future, if he ever changes his sig !]

I think K3G i have maybe the pirate version, although i dont know why in this digital age we still have to put up with such awful pic quality. I thought dvd can only playback digital sound and picture?
Kaante dvd has the original cover, I dont know what pirate should look like. Hathyar has very good quality picture, but the subtitles are non removable, I have come across this problem on a lot of other dvd's, rishtey was also among one of them.
I get dvd's from a mate who sells them in manchester, and he says he never deals in pirates, but his prices are really cheap. I pick up dvd's from £5 - £7 thats his price to me, usually he sells em from £10 - £20.

Digital doesn't automatically equal good quality.

You got the pirated Kaante most likely. I don't believe the official one is even out yet. I can't explain why you cannot remove the subs on Hathyar, but it is either a compatibility problem or you got a pirate.

Faddy is our resident piracy expert, and I believe he is in Manchester too. If you tell him the name of the store, he can probably tell you whether or not they sell pirated discs.

Thanks for making that clearer. But I was hoping for the mention of "divine intervention" for better quality dvds

Not likely, as the companies are run by Shaitan himself! He puts a spell on many DVDs so that they freeze and you have to buy another one!

Sounds like you're watching and buying pirates, because I own or have viewed those DVDs (save for Kaante) with removable subtitles. I haven't seen the original DVD of Kaante yet...but DVDs can look like crap if the source is poor and they are authored by hucksters who run most of our Indian DVD companies.
