Welcome confirmation.
Goodluck to Sandish and the gang.

Does BEI still have rights for the films acquired from EVP?? As we have figured, half the EVP DVDs never ever were in Film mode and all their subtitled batches are interlaced.

So that means that all the titles we thought were out of print like 'HDDCS' etc are now back in print under a different label? I wonder if this will affect prices. It would be awful if 'Umrao Jaan' currently at $5.99 shoots up to $15 just because of the new company and new edition.

yash raj is the only one who has the monopoly as they have exclusive and non ending rights for the usa on the movies they release on dvd..

Does this include non Yash Chopra, B.R. Chopra, and Raj Kapoor produced films, such as Guru Dutt's films?

hope i am not getting out of topic here.

as i was watching DEI's Saathi last night, i was pleased with the print as usual. the subtitles for the song "Bhool Jaa" didn't do justice, i truly think Zulm's Aarkayne would've been able to do justice.

i think D/BEi should appoint someone like him or him for subtitles who have good english vocabulary.

and talking about BEi redoing the movies, i noticed many of the earlier DEi films doesn't have subtitles for the songs, they can also add that on the re-releases. There are songs collections of Rafi, Mohd. Rafi, Mukesh, etc.. out there, waited for DEi releases and waiting for BEi releases.

I hope BEI can now get the rights to films that currently have bad DVDs, such as Padosan and Anupama.

I wonder if BEI is going to be as bad as DEI was with forced advertisements and self promotional crap. I hope not. Also I hope some sense has prevailed on them and they stop the practise of disabling the player controls. I for one will rebuy several of their titles if only they came without the FORCED commercials and without the player controls being disabled.

Lets hope they use proper media and not the cheapo discs that Videosound and a few others use. The films play a few times (if you are lucky) before they start giving problems.

Amar Akbar Anthony - which was $5.99 at IW as "DEI" is now $9.99 at IW as "BEI".

The reason for this is probably that the stock of "DEI" items were sold for pennies on the dollar, and thus can retailed at the $5-$8 prices we have been seeing.

The "BEI" regular stock undoubtedly costs more at wholesale, hence the $9.99 price, which is probably what we will see for older in-print titles from now on.

PS IW had a one-day sale on Amar Akbar Anthony (DEI) for $3.99 - undoubtedly to clear out stock so that they could change the page to say "BEI" and show the different picture.

And the other item they had on sale the same day - Roja (DEI) is now out-of-stock (perhaps it will be the next BEI re-release?).
