Mani Ratnam: Bollywood revisited
Master filmmaker Mani Ratnam, whose debut Hindi film Dil Se bombed at the box-office, is all set to try his hand at Hindi once again. Sources close to the Ratnam clan have it that the director has already signed Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Vivek Oberoi to play the lead while the female leads are yet to be decided. Hope it is true and we see some real good work soon.

I just hope at least this time it'll be much better than Dil Se!

But why Hrithik Roshan?

Dil Se actually was quite a brilliant film with amazing music and great screenplay. It just didn't play to the masses and thast why the film didn't do well.

Look at the fact that Zubeidaa was a flop in india, and yet itw as a beautiful movie!

because not everybody has been brainwashed by the current
Hrithik bashing and can see the difference between bad
material and bad actors.

This news broke in a big way all over the Tamil websites and trade guides. The rumours further claim that Ratnam is trying to sign Simran and Sehna from Tamil cinema for the film. However there is no mention of Hirthik Roshan, only Big B and Vivek Oberoi.

Other indications claim that the cinematography will be by Ravi Chandran after thier last work Kanathil Muthamittal was appraised for its visual canvas.

I guess the project he planned with Kamal Hassan failed to start which was a shame as it would have been quite intresting after Nayakan. Still him getting Big B would be something and would make the film extra special. Now my hopes rises and I only hope these rumours are ture.

As Mhafner put it....there is a truckload of difference between genuine talent and the opportunity to showcase it.....Roshan has been dumb as far as movie choices he has made....he has tried to play it to the gallery....hopefully he has learnt from his mistakes and is willing to experiment now....i would certainly watch out for him in both Ratnam's new or certainly in Farhan Akhtar's LAKSHYA

Dil Se a brilliant film? I would call it a failed experiment. The narrative in the first half was a mess, though the film tried to redeem itself in the second half, it was really to little, too late. I knew it was about the seven stages of love in Sufi philosophy going into the movie, so I did have a grasp of the themes in the movie. However, I would have to say this was Ratnam's worst movie, and I have seen most of them...

It can be argued that Dil Se was more about the fight between freedom and terrorism than anything else. And Ratnam's execution on this subject was brilliantly done.
