Audio Question:

So far, I have not been using proper audio for DVD viewing. Just been using the TV built-in speakers. Recently tried configuring DD 5.1 audio using Power DVD/ PC.

I noticed something strange.

Some DVDs when they show as 2 CH audio (from Power DVD system info), only Front Left and Right Speakers were active, the way they should. For other DVDs, again screen shows that 2 Ch audio is on the DVD, but all 4 or 5 speakers are active. No settings were changed.

What’s happening??

The DVD in question being Kati Patang. It says , on the dvd cover, DD 2 ch mono, but when played from PowerDVD, the information it shows there reveals DD 4Ch. Mono :O Care to explain whats happening there ?

May be that's the reason.

It is understandable if the player reads it as 4 Ch info. But, I don't think, where I noticed this 2 Ch vs 4 Ch dicrepency, was for Kati Patang. May be it was??
