I've seen both copies of Hera Pheri on DVD. I'm pretty sure the VS Hera Pheri DVD is much sharper and the dolby 5.1 is much more lively than the Dolby 5.1 on the Shermaroo DVD of Hera Pheri. Also on the Shermaroo DVD you get that annoying line which flickers every time the chapter changes.
I'd stick with the VS Hera Pheri.

Absolutely ... all Shemaroo titles suffer from the same problem.. of flickering... as they are encoded in an all-out Interlaced technique :( I wonder if the versions of Karz & Hero would be the only versions available or....

All of Shemaroo's DVDs are non anamorphic thus far, which really sucks because when Shemaroo does DVDs for EROS once in a while, and others they make the DVD anamorphic with proper 5.1 audio. However when Shemaroo makes there own DVDs they crop the picture and do not use proper 5.1 audio.

As far as Hero goes unless DEI which is now BEI picks up the DVD rights to this movie. The Shemaroo DVD will be the best bet for owning Hero on DVD. The only bad things with the DVD are that the DVD will be Interlaced and the DVD will not will be anamorphic and the dolby 5.1 will not be true 5.1 audio.

I'll try emailing my contact at Shemaroo, and see if they can make a proper DVD of Hero.

ksingh, guru!! does people at shemaroo have eyes and years, to read write, listen and answer, I doubt it!!

Can u comment on their dvd of Hindustani? did they even used 5.1 for that film or not!!

Imho, if movie has orig 5.1 track, like hindustani, APd. yaadein ,deewangee, then shemaroo should give 5.1 proper soundtrack..but for older films, those were, mono, stereo, or dolbysurround, should be left alone for god sake, rather than, doing digital enhancement and making it shitty pseudo 5.1...it stinks!!big time!!

I dont think, they have ever understood term of DIGITALLY REMASTERED FROM STEREO TO 5.1!..TRUE REMIX!!

if they dont, just leave those oldies alone!!

The other part!I agree, if they enhance video for eros, they shld do to their own films too!!

I don't have the info on the Hindustani DVD, but on the Dil Vil Pyar Vyar DVD, the DVD has a audio setup option to either play the movie in Dolby Digital stero or to play the movie in 5.1, but I haven't watched the DVD yet so I can't comment whether the 5.1 audio is true 5.1 or not. Since alot of people seem to have questions on Shemaroo DVDs its best if u all email them -> info@shemaroo.com <- I'm waiting a reply on the Hero DVD info. We can only hope that Shemaroo listens to its customers unlike the other Indian Movie companies.

ksingh ji!! believe me, we care!! shemaroo is doing, overseas what other dvd manufacturers cant do here!! with some accidental exceptions!!

they have capibility to do much better, on few accounts...prog transfer from telecine, anamorphic enhancement and true 5.1 when possible!

I would invite, another sanjay from India who have seen..Deewangee from shemroo, to comment here!

As far e. mails...never had any of my mails, returned by them..so..

I would like to invite ur contact's attention to this forum, esp this thread and see, if they can post any comments!!

I am afraid to say, orig sound track on Hero, might be only stereo??

Secondally, even if Dolby surround, just take a look at two DEI dvds KHALNAYAK and GHATAK by DEI, both DOLBYSURROUND!! but WAY BETTER than even most true!! DD 5.1!!

SURROUND REMIX for DVD is a BIG ART too!!

DEI, orig faltered with dvds like HAHK, where their surrounds dont blend!! at all, but once they mastered their technique!!we got one of the BEST sound tracks from them!!

A recent honorable mentions are to media partners..their ROAD was EXCELLENT sound track..SUR too!!

I also recently watched the ROAD DVD by Media Partners and the 5.1 audio was excellent also watched Spark/Soven's Deewangee over the weekend and the audio was great, but the video sucked. After watching Hera Pheri by Shemaroo I would have to think that the Deewangee audio on the Spark/Soven DVD will surely out do the Deewangee audio done by Shemaroo.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got done watching the Shemaroo DVD of Deewangee. The DVD is being sold here in India for a MRP of Rs 550/- approx $11.

Video:
Non Anamorphic Letterboxed - cropped 1.80:1
Decent picture quality for a non-anamorphic DVD.
Sound:
Dolby Digital 5.1
Good surround sound, decent quality sound.

Pros: Price, reasonable quality video, good quality sound.
Cons: Incorrect Aspect Ratio, Non-Anamorphic, Interlaced, Forced commercials at the begining with disabled player controls including stop button.

PS: MRP = Maximum Retail Price

***btw!! read this thread to get a feel of people's frustration over trying to communicate with Shemaroo, authorities, and finally giving it up!

be my guest!

Not necessarily true. I'm in the US and I've seen a few Shemaroo titles on the shelves. Ask around, you might be surprised.

I finally got around to watching Dil Vil Pyar Vyar DVD by Shemaroo last night.

The DVD contains excellent dolby 5.1 audio
The picture quality is excellent for a non-anamorphic DVD.
The colors are really sharp on DVD.
The print used to make the DVD was really good there were hardly any blemishes throughout the film, and very littel flickering.

For those people who do not have a DD5.1 setup one can setup up the audio on the DVD to play in dd stereo.

The DVD lived up to the text written on the DVD cover..
"The ultimate enhanced version with smooth viewing".
