I am interested in Bhangra music videos as well. Specially the UK ones (Heera, Safri, Alaap, DCH, Sahotas, Premi, ---).

I had bought one official music DVD by Magna Sound and it's video was worst than my Video taped off TV copies.

I just received Super Digial's Music Box 54 music videos. This is the first semi decent music video DVD that I have seen. Keeping in mind that these music videos are taped for TV, (i.e. interlaced), you can not get the Progressive Film to DVD type transfer.

Can't do anything about the past video recordings, but I hope they start shooting music videos on progressive medium. Be it 24 fps Film or 30 fps prog for NTSC or 25 fps prog for PAL or any other prog format. Music Videos is big business now. They better meet film quality.

Music videos in America are shot on film but edited on video, so even these music video DVDs would end up as interlaced video transfers. However, if the videos were shot on film or 24p HD and edited on 24p HD, progressive video transfers would be possible.

So, there is hope. Specially for the music Bhangra videos from UK.

But, all the music videos in "SD Music Box" DVD seem to have interlaced origin right from the shooting. Considering the source and knowing that it's an interlaced material, the PQ is extremely good. The choice of Music Videos included in the compilation is excellent as well. All Music Videos were good, but I liked Usha Uthup numbers the most.

the quality is pretty bad on these dvds. since there are around 40 or so songs on each dvd, you can imagine just how bad it is. i didn't even like the selection of songs, but maybe that's because i'm bhangra illiterate. i was hoping for more upbeat stuff and some nice punjabi girls dancing to these upbeat tunes.

anyone know of any song dvds with a GOOD selection of songs?

oh yeah, amisha and kareena do not make an appearance in any songs as the cover would have you believe.

Khiladi, these are exactly the type of songs that are in Super Digital Music Box 54 DVD which was released along with Abhinetri DVD recently. I don't remember if the songs you mentioned are in it or not, but it is these kind of songs.

Check link for List of songs

Aby Aby by Amitabh, Mera Naam Chin Chin Chin by Usha Utthup, Abhijeet, etc. PQ is extremely good, considering that they were filmed in interlaced video. DVD can't get any better than the video shoot. Audio is 2 Ch, can't say if it is stereo or mono. I am curious to check it too, if it has thumping base or not. I think it is good quality music videos. As they are music videos, I expect Hi Fi audio in it.

Found the following Bhangra and Pop music DVDs at IW.

1)
I have this “SMASH HITS” DVD by Magnasound.
http://216.247.121.93/datacar....Id=3564
Quality is un-acceptable. Audio is bad. Not even DD, standard for DVD. Not Hi Fi either. PQ is bad.

2)
I also have this “MUSIC BOX 54” DVD by Super Digital.

Quality is good. Haven’t checked on Hi Fi yet, but on TV audio is good. May be Hi Fi. (Will update comment on its audio after I check it).

IF ANY ONE HAS SEEN THE FOLLOWING DVDs, PLEASE COMMENT:

I had this disc. It was the free disc included in Tips ALBELA DVD, that I picked up for only $ 2.99 at IW a few weeks back on their one day specials. If you still can find this ALBELA DVD, even for $ 8 or 10, its worth it because of this freebie.
QUALITY is remarkably good. It's at par with Tips movie DVDs, but note that what is considered bad for Film to DVD transfers is Excellent for video to DVD transfers.

THANKS.

Rana

P.S.
If you include Punjabi Film songs in this category, then DEI's 2 disc APNA PUNJAAB HOVEY is by far the best DVD in this category. PQ and Audio both flawless.

I don't care about official or un-official, as long as PQ is what it should be and the audio as good as their respective CDs.

I am sure, Super Digital Music Box is Official (good quality). And so is Magna Sound's Smash Hits (bad quality) as they are the right holders of those audios. Music Videos are used to promote their CD sales.

If Official versions of all these Music Videos don't exist, some one should make good quality official DVDs of all these popular songs.
