About a year ago, off HD tape storage, I say a sony demo of Spiderman 2, on a high end projector (about £25k) called a "ruby" or something. The image was about 15 feet across and was stunning. The projector and blue ray were displayed in amazing clarity with very very little "screen door effect", i remember the guy saying only 8% of the picture was now lost to screen door effect. Since then I've wanted blue ray! (and ideally that projector!)

That reminds me actually maybe I should now look around for it.......I suspect its come down loads in price now......

The new Sony 1080P projector, nicknamed the 'Pearl' is priced at below $5000 and is actually supposed to be better than the 'Ruby' in some aspects. Considering that the 'Ruby' was priced at $10000, it is quite a fall in prices. Also there are now several 1080P projectors from the likes of Panasonic, JVC & Mitsubishi, that are all priced below $5000. In fact, Epson has a 1080P projector out now for under $3500. Now I only wish I had a large enough dedicated room to justify a front projector.

Sanjay, I don't know about the Sonys etc. But I have a 2/3 year old Panasonic AE500 which uses a short throw lense and is perfect for my bedroom. It's a couple of years old now and is very cheap on ebay etc.......but it does do 1080i for sure (not sure about p)....... Once I'd seen the Ruby screen door improvement though, i really wanted to upgrade! I may take another look at prices now, I don't really 'need' an upgrade but no harm in looking now is there
