"Bollywood Hollywood," the romantic comedy from Deepa Mehta which opened Perspective Canada at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival, received five nods, including picture, Ranjit Chowdhry, Moushumi Chaterjee and Dina Pathak for their supporting roles, and Mehta for her screenplay.

That's a shame, as it really didn't deserve any of those nods. Perhaps Dina Pathak, who was one of the few in the cast that learned to project her lines properly (unlike the atrocious leads).

Keep in mind, these are Canadian awards. The competition is against a handful (as always) mediocore Canadian Films. Bollywood Hollywood, at least is Canadian Box Office success. Thanks to South Asian and West Indian communities in Multicultural Canada.
